| And Taryn, who cares? I don't think it makes a difference if tell someone "I dislike you!" or "I hate you!", it's both the same point. I wouldn't tell anybody either of those things. What good does it do to tell somebody something like that? It doesn't matter if I dislike a person, I have no right to say something like that to them. If I needed to though, I would tell somebody that I disliked an aspect of them, as tactfully as possible, but I don't think I have the right to say something like "I hate/dislike you" because it is a personal attack; rather than constructive criticism. | I didn't say that I'd just "cope around it forever" I'd tell you that I disliked what it was that you were doing to piss me off, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't in future. I just wouldn't say "I hate you" or "I dislike you" because you were doing something annoying or pissing me off. It's not justified. |

| True, theoretically it would be better to just tell someone WHAT you don't like about him/her, but I think I've been proved plenty of times that it doesn't work. A good example are posers or people like following you like all day. I've had a few of those people so far, and in spite of the fact I told them to quit following me all day, they didn't stop. When I eventually gave them the expression that I was literally getting fed up with them they did. And even so, when I'd tell you "I don't like you" or "Stop being such a fucking spammer", I don't think it'd be much of a different. In both cases you do get the point that I pretty much have a problem with you. |

| Yeah, but I guess in my life I don't really have people who do follow me around or go out of their way to get under my skin. At school I did, but at school I just ignored everybody, their petty opinions and teasing didn't really matter. After school, I found that I COULD tell somebody that I didn't like something that they did, and they'd either stop, or I could avoid them, or otherwise deal with the situation without saying that I hate anybody. |

| hm. I can think of a perticular person that i really really HATE. But my hate for this person is for my own personal reasons, and thus i cannot do anything about it. In fact doing something about it would potentially harm someone i want no harm to come to. other than that, i don't really hate anyone else.. as others have said, dislike maybe, but not hate... i have no problems against telling someone I hate them, as long as i can present facts to back it up. I guess the only people i really dislike are people who hate others simply because of what these other people do. Sometimes it's important to think what this other person is thinking psychologically. For me that includes everything, from prefered fashion style, to religious beliefs. I am thus able to understand why someone does something, and even accept that I myself would maybe do it given the same psychological setting. |
