| There are ways of delaying it, yes. Being a professional football player playing for some foreign club has proven very effective, but, not many people are that, huh? I don't know if you can delay it because of university, most people simply go through with it straight away, since it's only one year, and then take university afterwards. |

Eh... If Adamant was in Sweden I'd say they'd have the broadband, but it looks like he's in dialup land at best.  Everything you wanted to know about Norwegian drafting, directly from Wikipedia: Norway has mandatory military service of 18 months for men between the ages of 18 (17 with parental consent) and 42. The actual draft time is 6 months for the national guard, and 9-12 months for the regular army, air force, and navy. The remaining months are supposed to be served in annual exercises, but very few conscripts do this due to lack of funding to the Norwegian armed forces. Certain specialist training programs entail extended conscription of one to eight years. Pacifists can apply for non-military service, lasting 18 months. Women can volunteer for military service. |

| Okay, several misunderstandings here. The golf stream helps in Northern Norway too. It can be cold there during the winter, but the average difference between the climate in Southern- and Northern Norway isn't that big. In 2004, the summer was hotter in the North most of the time. If the golf stream didn't exist, it would be cold in the South, and very cold in the North. I've been near the Russian border. That was four years ago, but what I remember: There was trees and hills all the way, and very few houses. I was there in autumn 2000, and it wasn't colder there than down here (I live in the south, but I've been almost everywhere in Norway). Originally posted by ColleenEverything else. | First off, I said the SIBERIAN polar bears from SIBERIA. Not from Norway. And the dialup land comment was a Jesper joke - whenever Jesper heads to the country, he says that he's heading to dialup land since you can't use broadband up there. |
