I've got 'em, you've got 'em...we've all got 'em...interests in stuff that we're pretty sure nobody else here would be interested in discussing. My two big things are chess and fencing.

What are yours?

I find fencing pretty interesting, I just know dick-all about it. I've fenced once, and I stabbed my friend in the arm pretty good.

Let's see.. uninteresting interests I have... codebreaking, cracking, reversing, etc. All done legally, of course, at sites like www.bright-shadows.net and the like. I have yet to find someone else who's really interested in that kind of stuff. I'm not amazing at it or anything, but I find it fun anyway.

[edit] Oh yeah, cooking! Forgot about that. I like to cook. Locksmithing is an interest of mine too, but I don't really have the facilities to actually do any of that.

See, I share ALL my interests ALL the time... if I think it actually affects the world in any way

Ok, um, things I DON'T talk about...

Jacking off, yea, that's one that usually never comes up at a party...

Acapella and Theatre... I have kind of started not being involved in the Acapella group so much anymore because of the Theatre interest that conflicts with it right now (Hamlet). But I used to be very involved in it. Now, it looks like I'll stay more involved in theatre than singing...

Running... I seriously doubt that anyone HERE knows I run in track and cross country... ok, but then again, I don't keep quiet much about it elsewhere... I guess if it was about stuff said HERE, then I could list a whole shitload of things people wouldn't know about me...

Cooking, just because it would probably make me embarrassed to tell other men than I like it. Yes, I enjoy cooking meals, especially when I add a lot of my own stuff to it instead of just going by a previous recipe.

Entomology - I like catching unusual insects and the like when I'm on an outdoor trip. I do get a little frusterated when people kill them.

Cooking - For some reason, it's fun to do and watch. I don't know why.

Medical Care - I like to look up symptoms for certain diseases so I can tell people a bit about how to treat them, the risk factors, and what medicines they need. You may have noticed that I've talked about that sort of thing every now and then.

Cars - I can point out almost any car and identify it without looking at the emblem or the model.

Fossil Hunting - On rare occasions, I would drive to a really dry and rocky place to look for bivalves and steinkern fossils. Sometimes I find something more like antique bottle caps, watches, pieces of broken jewelry, and animal bones.

Meteorology - I like observing and keeping track of the weather. I'm one of those people that would probably love to see a tornado at least once..

I also do like chess, and to experiment with food every now and then.

And I think that graffiti looks nice.

The biggest one I can think of is the time I spend developing the stories to my DiEn characters. I am currently typing up a full history and writeup of my character, and am seriosuly considering learning how to draw, so I can add some images to my stories.

I also enjoy drinking coffee while looking up at the stars on a spring evening. It's beautiful.

Everything else I've disclosed to other people before, so they don't count.

Etymology. Words come from interesting places, yes indeed.

Throwing small objects. I've picked up the hobby of throwing pens end over end. I'm getting pretty good at it, I can peg the same spot repeatedly at a fair distance when I'm in the right mood. I think the next thing I need to work on there is the right mood part. I can't do very well if I'm angry or trying to show off, for example, and my best accuracy is when I'm feeling glum.

Reading lips. It's a great hobby, really.

And other stuff too, that's just what comes to mind.

Well, unspoken intrests as in things I tend to not brag about; but do all the time would be drawing, and writing lyrics. and sleeping. things I actually try to hide? singing. jacking off. and depending on who I'm talking too [authority; I'll hide drugs] [parents; I'll hide drugs/"criminal" activity] [girls; I'll hide other girls and my faults] I'll hide different things. Just out of habit mostly.

I don't tend to talk about these things; none of my friends are interested. I like to:
Cook (see General Chat, Food/Health/Fitness thread)
Garden
Raise Koi (I like fish because I'm a swimmer too)
Clean up the house
Do household chores/maintenance
Landscape
Rearrange furniture
Create floorplans for houses
Interior design
Creating new languages and alphabets
Seeing how much I can read in one day (so far, 6,392 pages)
Reading upside-down
Correcting people's grammar
Listening to, arranging, and composing classical music
Imagine and design roller coasters
Sedate myself with clove oil (really freaking wierd)
COWS!!!!!!

Obviously, some of these are considered stereotypically female, but I like to do them anyway. A lot of these are just plain wierd, and I understand that. Also, I'm having a very off day today and feel like showing one of the many faces of cows.

I write music and lyrics, sing, and play piano pretty proficiently, but I really don't discuss it much because I don't have much to say. It takes me about umpty bazillion years to finish a song because I refuse to slap in some random melody or line just for the sake of completing it, and the only sort of progress I make towards songwriting is screwing around on my Yamaha S80 and writing down ideas as they arrive. I can share finished lyrics (and I would ultimately like to share decent-sounding recordings), but that's really about it.

My main hobby right now is cosplay - specifically, I'm working on some Dynasty Warriors costumes for Otakon. Because I'm being as anal about my material choices and craftsmanship as possible, the costumes have been in progress since last May and I still have many more hours to put into them. (They've also gobbled up a significant quantity of my disposable income, but let's not get into that. ) Not only am I doing the usual sewing, I'm making some spiffy props with the help of a friend who is good at laying fiberglass. I'll also be constructing real banded leg armor "chaps" out of heavy leather, fat-headed rivets, and 16-gauge aluminum squares. Luckily there's an awesome local metal shop that cut all the aluminum for me cheap. At any rate, I am extremely happy with my progress thus far, especially because these are collectively my third major cosplay project. My craftsmanship has improved drastically since three years ago when I thought "Oh gee whiz, wouldn't it be fun to go to Otakon as Felicia? What's a seam finish? What's topstitching? Dehhhhh!" Now I'm looking forward to flat felling* as many of Rando's jacket seams as possible. I am a sewing geek.

* If you have no idea what I mean by this, grab a pair of jeans. Look at the inner leg seam. It probably has some bulk to it and two lines of stitching. That's a flat felled seam - a very strong and secure seam commonly used on denim.

- I take random stats regarding a lot of different things aside from the ACS, but nothing of any real note. Just personal observation bullcrap.
- I like fixing up stuff on Wikipedia (cleaning up vandalism, adding some things, etc.) but nothing of any real note.

I remember when someone ticked me off in Biology. They were behind me, a good distance away. I tossed my pen backward over my shoulder, and hit him right in the chin. The teacher didn't get mad, though - he complimented my aim! Man, that kid was pissed.

Doing that which I am not supposed to. I've stolen small things from various people, nothing major, irritated a few annoying relatives of friends... no harm's done, and I get a good laugh. I can keep my thieving tendencies under control, of course.

Aiming Bouncing Balls. Might need some clarification. I take a small rubber ball, find a target and try to bounce the ball off walls to hit the person. The 'target' is usually one of my younger cousins, Sammy. He does the same to me, it's all a game to us. His aim's not so good though. Or maybe I'm just good at dodging.

Knitting -- even though I suck at it and all I can knit are scarves with dropped stitch holes designer gaps in them.

Coffee -- I am willing to spend a lot of money and time in getting good quality coffee. I want to find out how to make better coffee. I want to get a grinder and grind my own beans sometime, but I have to find the right grinder first. I like trying different types of beans and doing different things to my coffee (adding alcohol to it is fun, for starters).

Red Alert 2 -- Some of you here might know about it, but I love Red Alert 2. It just never, ever seems to get "old". I like to play over the LAN at home with my housemates, and I love it when I get to challenge people to a game. I like new maps, I like making my own maps, and I like generally hacking the game too.

Cooking -- I suck at cooking, but now that I visit the Markets here frequently I have a newfound interest in fresh food, food preparation and cooking. I find things in the markets that are cool, and I'm finding it fun trying to work out how to cook them and what to cook them with. My cooking is getting better.

Mobile Phone Ringtones -- I like making mobile phone ringtones. I've gone off this a little though now that my current phone sucks, but otherwise I like creating my own mobile phone ringtones. I can't stand that there are so many places out there that want you to pay for ringtones, and I hate the variety offered by those places (ie, crap. Like that stupid Crazy Frog thing on Jamster or whatever it is.... driving me nuts... grr...)

Don't really know if this is more spoken or whatever...but solo writing. It's not that I haven't done writing before in large groups but I've taken the time to do some of my own writing aside from that a few times. I've only let a few people know and not much else. They're not too great but then taking into account that I only really started getting into writing in later '02, I guess that's to be expected.

Other than that...not much else. I'm pretty open about everything that I do.

All I really have an interest in is clocks... a trip to my room would verify that -- 7 on display (5 of which work) and 3+ on top of my bookshelf (no where to plug em in )

Past that... WYSIWYG.

Well, I work for a school newspaper that actually claims to have something like niveau... I mean, we even somehow managed to make an interview with Germany's Minister of the Interior (I'm not exactly sure whether that's its actual name in English... I can't find my dictionary now, and that's what google translation spew out), but that was already aeons ago. Yeah, our best days are over
Other than that, I'm also a maths fanatic (not that it would be of interest), and I like to play chess and pool billiard.
