It doesn't matter how much of it was good if it still has some of the worst levels in the history of SMW hacking. I can kinda see where you're going with your argument now - I mean, I find your argument to be stupid and I don't really care what you have to say, but the point is I can understand where you're coming from - but no amount of rationale can make #4 Crystal Castle anything more than a really bad level.

*sighs* Yes Kyouji, the Crystal Castle thing was a bit questionable. But most of your complaints come down to nothing more than personal tastes.

Try downloading the patch again and patching it on a freshly 6MB-expanded Rom.
If that does not work, try a new SMW-ROM.

Heh heh... Yeah. I never said it wasn't enjoyable, of course, I just said that, well, I felt that certain parts lowered it overall, and left me with a bad taste.

That's fine. But I'm pretty sure you can still express that without resorting to silly overexagerations and rather rude dismissals of other people's opinions.

I used a modified snes9x and there were no desyncs.

And that FuSoYa dialog in ...? was funny.

I didn't say that. You went a bit far, is all. Don't take it personally, but don't make it a habit either... despite what your custom title says.

Well, Fu, no matter what, you created Lunar Magic, and without that better hacks would not be made...

...well, not as easily. But if you created an ultra-powerful editor with very little limitations, that is a feat in itself.

So yeah, DWTLC wasn't the best thing ever. Lunar Magic, however, is one of the most flexible editors ever.

And, yes, Crystal Castle was, by far, one of the most poorly designed levels in SMW hacking... I didn't like it... then again, my opinion. I know someone is going to completly try to make me change my opinion... but I won't...

Lunar Magic is the single most bet thing ever. Without it, I wouldn't be editing a whole entire videogame! This thing make me feel like a programmer! ME! It's easy to use, better than Eggvine, and it runs on windows! What more could you ask for?

@Kyouji: I hope you're alright. I don't think you're horrible.

I don't think you're horrible Really??? Well Fu, i think DW:TLC is one of those games just like Mortal Kombat 3. It's timeless! Okay MK3 isn't as good as now as it was when it was released, but it'll always go down in history as an excellent game, as will DW:TLC.

While we're all gushing, I'd like to point out that one of the reasons I like DW:TLC so much is because it is one of the most complete SMW hacks out there. In fact, off the top of my head, I can't think of a more complete one. Even if a couple of levels are less than lackluster, the overall work and dedication that went into it most of it more than makes up for it.

On the subject of Lunar Magic, what more can I add that hasn't already been said? It is the most fully featured ROM editor out there. I don't think you could ask for more than it already provides. Some say it's TOO featured, but I disagree. Sure, all of the brute work normally associated with rom hacking is completely (or nearly) obliterated, but to me, it's more about taking a game that I love and changing it into something that others can enjoy and less about proving your rom hacking mettle.

I think Kyouji is being an all around nitpicker. While Crystal Castle was bad and so were about 3 or 4 levels the rest of the hack was complete, satisfying, interesting, diversive and in some places surprising. It seems to me Kyouji chooses to ignore the many good points of TLC and just goes on a blind tantrum against the hack as a whole, which is not very constructive and just annoying to read.

As for the video, I'm still watching it so I can't comment. Whoops.

Thanks for saying exactly what everyone else who disagreed with me said in a manner strictly inferior to their own. Also, thanks for ignoring my point completely. Look, I didn't ignore the many good points, I clearly said that quite a bit of it was good, but I didn't spend all my time talking about that because, hmmm, that wasn't my point. My point was that overall, it felt like the badness of the bad levels lowered the overall score in my mind, despite how good the good levels were.

I'm gonna take a different approach to this argument and bring up something new.

When all was said and done, the parts that I found most memorable about this hack were the bad parts and Bowser's Castle. If what you remember is mostly bad, you're not gonna go back and play the hack again, so the entertainment you get from it it minimized, and because of this, the hack isn't really accomplishing its purpose, now is it? Your view on what was memorable is likely different, so perhaps you do go back and play it fairly often, but hey, you finding it fun does not mean that I find it fun, and you finding it fun doesn't make me wrong (nor does me not finding it fun make you wrong.)

In conclusion, while I appreciate the fact that you gave me something to rant about, next time please take the time to read the entire thread before voicing your ill-informed opinion.

And sorry for being such a jerk... It's just who I am.

What to say about TLC.

TLC is not only one of the most complete hacks with all New Levels (Eccept 3 Super Mario Bros. 3 ones) and good use of Grafics and a real twisted overworld.

TLC shows the capilities of Lunar Magic, and also being a good Hack, it introduced scrolling pipes, multible blocks, and Levels I dreamed of as a little kid.

But it also lacks in certain departements, like secret exits that are more guesswork than playing, but watching that movie, you see the pros and cons of this Game.

And I personally think that Crystal Castle is innovative, I think it's a new idea with the use of the midway entry point. And because it's only used once in the entire game, it shines positive.

TLC also shows good placement with message boxes, and some other critical level design flaws to be avoided, but also some flaws crept in, like (for me) Misty Star Road. The repeated blocksequences.

And as every good game, not everyone who plays it, has to like it. But I think it's entertaining to play and watch.

Mario's Oddysey (the only other SMW hack I realy played) is a promising hack in the work, I know it will be better than TLC in allmost every aspect when it's finished.

And TLC shows a very important fact: A Good Hack needs Good Work. Or wasn't it in development fore more than some months?

A Hacker needs entisiasm and patience, to smooth things out.

So, to remind all Hackers here: If you start a hack, work with it, you'll need a great deal of your free time to make a good hake, and read the Thread K.Crawl has posted. It should really be stickied.

And these are some reasons why I didn't release any hacks I once started, or even talked about them. Time.
