| What do the fellow canadian members think about this whole situation? For those who don't know.... AdScam is basically refering to millions of dollars that the current Liberal Government in Canada has flitered money out of the treasury and into private firms, and then got donations back from these firms in exchange for contracts.... anyway.... most people in Canada are awaiting an election in the coming weeks/months... and the last poll I saw put Conservatives in the lead with about 38% support... liberals at 25% NDP at 20% and bloc around 15 not 100% positive on those numbers but still.... Canada has been screwed over by this liberal government and it's time for a change.... |

| The real numbers are: 32% Liberals 30% Conservative 19% NDP The rest is independants, smaller parties, or undecided and BQ. As for the issue itself. Who cares? Mike Harris' Common Sense Revolution cost Ontario billions only to hurt the province's economy and education systems. He also made a lot of bad decisions with health care. There were scandals all over that government, but no one ever investigates that. This was $100 million dollars of mismanaged money. There is no such thing as a non-corrupt government. I'd love to see the Liberals go down flaming and a new government come into power. But it just isn't a reality in terms of long term commitment in this nation. |

| There's a window right in front of me, behind my computer screen. If this scandal somehow results in a Harper government, I'm jumping out of it even though it's only a few feet off the ground. (Note that if it would be a Belinda government, I wouldn't be as dismayed, but they blew THAT chance.) Gut feeling is that the Liberals escape with a minority government again if we have the expected June election - only way we avoid that is if the other parties don't like the poll results in the next couple of weeks or don't feel confident. I'm surprised at 19% for the NDP though. Geeeez. |

| I know, we're doing splendidly, us NDP. We're polling 20% and more in most regions of the country (with a chance of doing a good clean up in BC, all major urban centres in Ontario/Maritimes/most of the praries). Plus, the defeat of C-38  Back to Gomery. I'm going to reiterate, the alternative to Fiberals and Dithers is Cracked-Out Bigotry Party of Canada. If we get that again, remember Mulrooney? Remember how NAFTA completely shafted us with a very large rod? That rod is going to get longer and wider if Harper gets in. |

| Everyone talks about the Gomery Inquiry. But what about the 2.5 Billions of the firearm scandal; one one talks about it anymore. Hell, for 2.5B$, they could have bought back every weapon in Canada. If there's an election, Conversatives come in, Charest gets killed, Quebec has elections; Quebec declares independance. Quebec fuses with an Independant Vermont. Alberta leaves Canada. BC follows. It's going to be a huge chain reaction. |

I think your opinion on how well the NDP is doing is a little exagerated.... maybe you haven't been out west in a while... but the west is conservative.... and how do you poll 20%... and more in "most" regions.... wouldn't that mean you would be higher than 20% then?.... it's okay.... no one is perfect at math |

| Areas in Canada like the Yukon, North-West territories, Nunavut, BC, and various maritime provinces, as well as Manitoba and Saskatchewan are polling in the 20%+ region. In some areas, far overtaking the Liberals and Conservatives in a riding to riding basis. Due to the averaging out of the percentages, over all 300 odd Canadian ridings, we see that the NDP is polling well into higher digits in various areas. | |||

| There's also local factors to take into consideration. For example, the Bloc Quebecois only runs in Quebec and won 54 seats last election - however, since they don't run anywhere else in the country, they only had 12.4% of the vote. The Green Party had 4.3% of the vote, but didn't win any seats. That's what happens in this type of system. (And the British election will be more confusing next month with almost twice as many ridings to keep track of...) |
