Will there be Bowser at the end of each castle (like in smb) or you will fight Koopa kid or Reznor ? & I think the cape will make the most levels very easy... |

One word posts suck. Never again. This game looks excellent, with a lot of clever solutions to SMW/SMB incompatibilities and excellent looking graphics. Sure, they're rips, but you really handled them both consistantly and effectively. Cut back on the snow, though. And change the mountain pallete in Update 2. Geez. These hacks are going to be unlocked and you're going to give permission for people to use them as bases for other hacks, right? |

I must've hit Submit Reply at some point Peter_ac: How is that well hidden? You can just go down there, swim under it, and jump straight up... Can't you? |

You can't swim in the SMB water Kyouji.

Then get rid of it, for ROM's sake. Sure, low water is true to SMB form, but not to SMW form. What if people jump in thinking it's real? Stop the madness now, peter_ac.

That's a bit of an overreaction. I mean, I thought that maybe you couldn't swim through the water, but wasn't really certain since, up, you can swim in all water in SMW. 'sides, I'm pretty sure I know how to get that feather out of there anyway. (edited by Kyouji Craw on 04-25-05 04:19 AM) |

Awesome-looking hack. A few questions (as I was working on a similar project for experience): 1. Do warp zones work? If so, how do you get the different pipes to take you to (up to) 3 different locations on the overworld. Also, how do you handle the 3 different exits on one screen in the warp zones? 2. How do you create a regular block (turn block/brick) that releases a 1-up mushroom (like in the ceiling of 1-2)? The only stock one provided relies on the block's x position, which is the wrong position for the ceiling block in 1-2. I suppose I could shift all the blocks over by 1 spot to make it work, but I'd rather do it right. 3. Can you squish goombas? If so, how? I thought about using graphically-modified shell-less koopas as a goomba substitute, but I don't want them putting on empty shells they come across (from kicking a koopa from its shell) and I don't want koopas that have been shell evicted to look like goombas (as funny as that may seem). 4. Do koopas get kicked from their shells or do they actually disappear when they are jumped on? 5. Do the scrolling platforms work (like the 2 pair near the end of 1-2)? I thought about using some platforms and line paths to approximate this, but the line path graphics are glitched for the cavern tileset. Is it safe to modify these graphics to look right (paste from another tileset) or do I need to import into ExGfx? 6. Do the pulley platforms work? If so, how did you accomplish this? 7. The fire lines in Bowser's castle, do they work? Are they graphically modified swinging spike balls or asm hacks? If the former, does the whole fire line hurt Mario or just the end (where the spike ball would be, as the chain is harmless)? Thanks in advance for any answers you can provide. P. S. Again, your hack looks awesome. Can't wait to try it. |

Well, if you haven't gotten the warp zones figured out, peter_ac, I suggest making the warp zone a secret exit leading to a warp zone overworld.

Dark Nation, i don't think you've played the 1st version i made about 2 months ago. It's on my site, in the ROM hacking section: http://www.freewebs.com/peter_ac/ it should answer most of your questions, but if you still have a question about it, just ask. @Glyph: no that's too messy, and there aren't enough pipes available.

Your site consists of crappy freewebs layouts and tables that don't show up correctly in my browser. How are you going to handle the warp pipes?

it is not insane to put that water in there, jsut make a savestate before you try to go in, that is what I would do, and if you cannot swim, resume the savestate, if you can swim, don't resume it.

I'd think that as peter_ac is trying to make this as accurate to SMB as possible, it would be logical to NOT swim in the water.

Glyph, how about trying NOT to offend people everytime you post? You're even bad at being a jerk, you're a Kyouji Craw wannabe, and i can't really think of anyone on this board who actually takes you seriously, so just back off. @smwedit: you're absolutely right. @skateboarder11: ditto.

Going from what Dark Nation says, I really hope you've found away to implement those spinning fire things somehow, since the castles in the SMB hack were incredibly boring without them. Someone here might be able to make them, I imagine.
