Like the GFX, ExGFX, Map 16, etc. Can ASM be exported, too? Or copied number-by-number ... and BTW: DONT'S TAKE IT TOO SERIOUS IF U THINK THAT THE QUESTION IS TOO STUPID !! Try and answer, and that's it |

Yes you can. It's called copying and pasting. | |||

You people are mean. You can copy assembly hacks from one hack to another of the same game. You could re-use their code on a different game, but the other game wouldn't work the same so the code wouldn't help much. Unless you've got a disassembled and reassemblable version of both games, you're not going to get assembly to port between games. |

Originally posted by Squash Monster Not exactly. It depends on whether your assembly hacks (or whatever you want to port) are bound to game-specific details (like a piece of code which ... lemme think of something ... changes the behaviour of the Fire Flower) or do simple hardware stuff (my CGADSUB-changing hooks for SMW, for instance, would work in LoZ3:ALttP as well). |

Actually, no ASM only works in the game it's designed for. It generally has to be in a very specific place with a certain memory layout. For example, Yoshi's Island has its memory arranged differently, and doesn't handle sprites the same way, so if you tried to copy the ASM for one of its sprites to SMW, it'd just crash. You can copy an ASM hack from one SWM ROM to another, though. Just make sure it doesn't overwrite anything. |
