I was driving home from class the other day when this odd thing occurred: To get back to my house I take a large road until I hit a mess of smaller suburban side streets. While still on the larger road, but about to turn into the smaller ones I had this odd thought,

My vote is for precognition. Stuff like that happens more often than you'd think.

As an aside: Too crazy for Gen Chat. Too general for C. Domain.

It was just a bizarre sequence of events. Unusual? Sure. Predicted? No. Just unusual.

On a side note... what's next? Craziness Chat? General Domain? *shot*

Umm, this is called self-memory modification. You probably never had that thought. Your mind pieced these things together after the fact to explain how you didn't hit the dog against all odds.

Freaky. I've had things like that before, mostly in dreams. Ziff might be right though.

I've been able to predict songs on the radio and the occasional TV show. The song/show will suddenly pop into my head for no reason, I'll think about it a bit, and BAM, there it is.

I also had a "vision" of what one of the final rooms in the Genesis game Puggsy looked like years before the game was even released. I'm certain I drew a picture of it (I thought it was a neat design for a Super Mario Bros. 2 level at the time), but I haven't been able to find it.

I was dreaming about my grandpa before my Mum woke me and told me he had died.

I also dreamed my way out of a dungeon in a really old RPG, but I think in both cases it was more cooincidence than anything else.

People tell you a lot of stuff can't happen. I read somewhere that it's impossible to read in your sleep, but I distinctly remember reading some words in a dream I had a few nights ago.

I've had a dream that came true once. And reality fit almost perferctly with the dream (a few details were left out, or I didn't remember them), except for one thing: In the dream I stepped on a dog shit, while in reality I didn't.

And I'm pretty certain that it was a real dream, and not something my mind just pieced together after the event, because I remember thinking about the dream after I've had it, (like I do with most dreams I have), and before the event happened.

As for your situation, BookReader, I don't know.

People say that this happens a lot simply because they only remember when it actually does happen. Why would you go around remembering all those times you've had a weird thought and then nothing happened afterwards?

your previous thought was way to specific to be a coincidence.

I've had experiences like this a couple times... I can't think of any specific example right now.

How could you read in your sleep? Your eyes are closed!

Well when you have several memories of these things actually happening, it doesn't matter much how many times they didn't. Maybe it's only actually come true half the time, but that still means half your dreams are coming true.

I hope not all of mine do though. I got in biiiig trouble in my last dream.

But it doesn't come true half the time. It only comes true a very small fraction of the time. The rest we pay no attention to, because we have no need to pay attention to it. Thus it feels like it comes true a lot.

Well what I'm saying is, if it happens half the time, you'll be able to remember a lot of different instances than if it was only 1/20 of the time.
