I hate school.

Because of parent teacher confrences, I'm basically grounded.

I have a 71 in English, that counts as an 81 because it's honors, and I have a 77 in Chem, which counts as an 77.

Band = A
Geo = B++
Spanish = B
History = A

And yet, I get grounded. My english grade is going up. And my parents know everything I show you, and I still get yelled at.

"The only college you're going to is (local college)"
"The only thing you'll be an engineer with is changing your CD player's batteries"

Why...I don't get it.

And it's not like I can rebutt either, because no matter what, they'll just yell more at me.

So they're expecting you to get A in everything? Or just think you aren't doing your best and really should? Because those grades really don't look bad

Somewhat reminds me of college when I was getting 70-80 in most subjects with nearly minimal studying ... I was above average and all, but my parents knew I was able to do better than that, they didn't ground me though But I made up for it at university ... over half of my grades so far are A+ (4.13 GPA), really can't ask for more

Basically. And they think I'm not doing my best (which I can't say that I am) because I *dun dun dun* Instant message and post. (they read my posts at NCF)

But still. If they got on my case to push myself, and not to nag on my because I have B's...I'd be a lot more agreeable.

How long are you grounded for?
Ouch... Getting yelled at for an honors...
I guess there isn't to much you can do, ether you can try to improve, or reason.
But, since reasoning isn't going to work, I guess you don't have much of a choice...

How old are you?

All I can advise is to bear it out. However, don't listen to your parents. There'll come a time when you have to break free, so be prepared. A grounding doesn't so bad... what does it entail? If it's just staying home, grab a book or something.

I hate when parents thinks like that.

I mean, they should be happy that you got B, and not F or something.

I never been grounded in my life, and when I got bad grades my parents didn't yell on me... they was trying to help me getting better grades.

Congrats on getting so good grades thought, I probably would get lower than you... (but at least I have no "failed"...)

Your parents are being perfectionists and trying to live vicariously through you because they feel you reflect 'how good' they are, and by ensuring that you are looked at as 'perfect,' it will make them look like 'perfect parents.'

Sad, really, that your parents seem to care more about their reputation than your happiness. I mean, you're sure as hell not doing BAD. And even IF you could do better, still...I dunno. Maybe you want to try harder in things you ENJOY doing- heaven forbin.
