| When I first heard about "ROM hacking," I thought SMB2 Christmas Edition was one of the cooler ones -- mostly because it had animated backgrounds that actaully worked really well, but also because it was completely themed, unlike most of the other output from around those times, which -- from what I could tell -- consisted mostly of SMB1 hacks with slightly altered Mario graphics and no other changes whatsoever. | |||

| When I was new to hacking, SMW hacking wasn't that big nor was there any SMW hacking tool. SMB3 was the first game I ever hacked. Most hacks from then was horrible, just look for the levels you can download from the lincoln site. That editor is outdated now but god... some of the hacks are basically a overworld with the "lost levels" used everywhere. While thoose lost levels are nice to play, there is no need for 45646 hacks with the same levels. :/ |

| there was once a patch submitted in the Zophar's Domain news queue for a metroid hack. i tested it out. i went down an elevator, one screen to the left or right (i cant remember and don't care which direction really) and then up an elevator and the game ended. best. hack. ever. needless to say i deleted it from the queue and lost all faith in humanity. edit: oh yah, can't forget about the "invisible megaman" hack that was also submitted to the ZD news queue. it changed maybe 5 pixels to the sprite background color... yah.. shoot me. deleted that one too. | Chris's first SMW hack was pretty good, IMO. He just had too many coins and 1-ups. =\ Do they have to be finished hacks? If not, then I say "Pokemon Fi-yah colosseum" was the worst... (Of course, this excludes Super DARRK World.) |
