There's nothing wrong with it. Those music and movie fat-cats have enough money to survive for 500 years.

Music only became something that could make someone filthy rich by selling music samples at high prices when commecrialism realized they could get people to buy 50 dollar jeans at hot topic in order to show off how badass they are.

If they want their goddamn money, let them play live for it like the good days. Let the MP3s act as examples of their music, instead of these media files being their only highway of talent.

And indie bands need it.

I think it should be of corse, those damn musicians make millions of dollars on concerts and programs like mtv. Musicians are just greedy bastards if you ask me, they make more and do less than everybody.

I hear songs that I like, I look for them online, I listen to them. That's pretty much my stance on the issue.

I would maybe support a band on a small indy label if I liked them, but... haven't heard any I like.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I download music and listen to it. Simple. Like you said Clockworkz, they have enough money as it is.

The only stuff I download is stuff that I can't physically buy here, like anime and J-pop music. I've downloaded the odd other song, but not many. I think if an artist has made music that I like and that genuinely emotionally affects me, then they deserve that money.

I have over 4000 mp3s on my computer. 90% of which are from signed bands that have released CDs.

Interestingly enough, I have nearly 300 CDs. All of which are purchased.

If you buy CDs then it is okay to Download, assuming you continue to buy CDs...Especially when those CDs have to be imported from Norway and Russian for 40$

I'm for it.

99% of the bands I like, I got into because of their MP3's I downloaded off kazaa. I even bought their CD's and been to their concerts (at least the ones that come to america).

Alot of bands made money off of me because of Kazaa so meh.

I'm against MP3 sites making you pay money to download songs. And I'm against people making you pay to buy burnt CDs. (I burn CDs alot, but I don't make people buy them )

Wow, are you ever deluded, JaCory. A lot of musicians don't make shit off their albums. The royalty rates are criminally low, and labels expect artists to repay whatever money they advance to the artists. The greedy bastards run the labels.

What do I do? I download stuff I wouldn't buy, even if I couldn't download it, or something I'll buy anyways. Once I buy it, I toss the MP3, assuming it's identical (as in, not a different remix). So long as you do that, I can reconcile my downloading, but don't do it for the wrong reasons.

They don't make shit off their albums? Thats the funniest thing I have heard all damn day. Kid Rock said it best on MuchMusic a few years ago when he was asked he said somthing like this (I can't remember what he said exactly) I've made my millions and if my fans wish to download my music go ahead.

So I completely agree with Jacory, what he said is correct. It's not like it hurts there bank account, what hurts there bank account is the money they waste on shit they will never use.

I paid $12 to download as much music as I want for the entire year, and I'm making sure I'm getting my money's worth. Besides, it's not like I don't buy CDs anymore, which I still do anyway. Most cases, I'll d/l things from a CD that I won't buy, because I only like a few songs on the said CD. Why bother buy a $15 CD, if I only like three songs out of the 10 or 12 on it?

Truth be told, I do both. Theres only so much you can download, and If you really like the band, theres always more you can get off thier albums.

Plus, no tightwads can accuse you of not buying music.

Hey, asshole, I lost $300 this year on my demo alone. Most musicians don't make money off their music, they do it for love of the music.

She is using an service which you pay an fee for downloading music. Such as iTune.

Intresting idea actually.

And my stance is, hadn't bought an CD with music in my life. All music I download is Game music which I hardly find it CD stores here or just simply non-commercial music.

Um...

I download music all the time, but the music I download isn't from a selling artist, it's from a composer who posts them up on the net.

I copy CDs a lot...

Ummm...

I think that iTunes idea is cool...Is that where you pay a small amount of money for a song to be downloaded?

Yea, I think so.

Look at it this way- if they don't make money from you guys listening to their songs, they'll go out of business and you won't get to hear anymore new songs from them. *shrug*

But I'm not much of a music buff, at least not POPULAR music.
