really...its actually awesome.

http://idealtransfer.com

all you basically gotta do is signup to the forum, and go to the request hosting forum, and request some hosting, just include your name, the subdomain or domain you want, and what you want it for...(also, if you do request, please add referred by:dcahrakos) in the post.

im pretty sure you get 2GB space, mysql, php, perl, etc and 5GB Bandwidth all for free.

Apachefriends blows. Setting it up to use port 2 was a pain in the ass (and I never got it right) and there's no help files anywhere for a newbie.

OmniHTTPd Secure is soooo much better.

1. XAMPP is meant as a quick installation of Apache, PHP, Perl, ProFTPd (not sure if the Windows version has it or another program), etc. Read the Apache documentation for more advanced set up
2. Why would you ever want port 2?
3. Apache was never meant to be run on Windows anyway.

I'm already signed up at Ideal Transfer, but I don't know whether it'll last or not. It's just like Webmanage, which just deleted all of it's free accounts out of the blue. Make sure you have everything backed up.

You have problems with Apache?

...xD

Apache is not that hard to install, even from scratch. I never had problems with it, and setting up the port is the easiest thing to do.

I have a nice Apache server setup... which works nicely heh.

Actually, apachefriends rocks when you're just running a localserver, but I can see why you wouldn't want it if you are making a server.
