| MY REVIEW SYSTEM I will play the hack for one sitting until I get bored. This can be anything from five minutes to an hour or two. So basically, I'm really just reviewing the first couple of worlds, but first impressions last, so... Also, the rating number is out of no number in paticular. Basically, the higher it is, the more I like it. Who needs totals? They're so restrictive.  OK, onto the reviews. Name: Super Mario Odessey Demo 2 Author: BMF54123 Spelling Errors?: No. You'll Feel Like You Are: Frollocking through a friend of flowers. Except the flowers are supermodels. And they want you. This hack is wonderful. After a pleasently misleading first world, the game kicks into it's plot with some very well designed levels and puzzles. The various new graphics fit in well with the original SMW sets, and the new features are quite pleasant. Rating: Four, and a thumbs up! Name: Super Mario World 1.5 Author: smwedit Spelling Errors?: A few grammatical mistakes. You'll Feel Like You Are: Sleeping. I want to like this hack, really, but it's so GENERIC. It's SMW hacks by the numbers. SMB3 rips! Check! YI rips! Roger that! Somewhat out of place DKC backgrounds? Hell, why not! Awkward level design that is neither good nor bad? You bet your sweet ass! While this isn't at all bad, there's nothing new here. Rating: Three, and a barely-stifled yawn. Name: Super DARRK World Author: One of the lesser demons. Spelling Errors?: Is Terri Shiavo dead? You'll Feel Like You Are: Being skull-raped in the eye-socket with a wooden stake that flashes bright colours.  This hack is bad, folks. Not Auchwitz bad, but somewhere around the "puppy got hit by a truck, inexplicably giving you AIDS" margin. This hack has the lot - A failed experiment at putting the Bowser boss in the Wudlig Boss Level, flashing colours that would make even a bad Quake 2 mapper shudder, "hardkore" near-black pallete, glitchy, sometimes impossible levels, Exit Spheres at the start of some levels, frequent empty message boxes... the sheer badness of this hack is such that it physically manifested itself in my house. It has commandeered the laptop and now has it's own Deadjournal about how nobody likes it. Rating: Minus Two, and the police are on their way. I'll post more when I play more hacks. | I must admit that the person who made Wario World was a genius (don't know his name, can't read the title very well due to the poor palette.) Seriously. The person was obviously trying to make a bad hack. I mean just look at it! He was busy enough to make all those levels for your playing displeasure! And he included all the horrible level design, eye bleeding palettes, and un-godly awful overworld design to make this hack an utterly unworthwhile experience. Really, that takes talent. | |||

The rips are well done, the levels are nicely designed and long, and the author even tries something new, in the form of the Giant Pirahnas. I also like how he's given underused sprites like the Dolphins some much-needed screentime. Rating: Four, and a smile. Name: Super Mario Illiad Author: Glyph Phoenix Spelling Errors?: No. You'll Feel Like You Are: Listening to White Rabbit. I'm torn on this one. The story is different, and the puzzles are too, but the level design is a bit frustrating, and I'm not sure if I like the graphics or not. The water generator puzzle made me swear at the monitor. Rating: Three, and a Metal Gear Solid-esque "?" mark over my head. Name: Mariotrocity Author: Glyph Phoenix Spelling Errors?: No. You'll Feel Like You Are: IN LOVE FINISH THIS HACK. NOW. Rating: 3.5 and my undying affection. Name: The Mallow Zone Author: Glyph Phoenix Spelling Errors?: No. You'll Feel Like You Are: Witnessing your girlfriend's brand new penis. | Name: Super Mario Bros. Author: Peter_ac Spelling Errors?: No. You'll Feel Like You Are: Better at SMB1 than you really are. It's SMB1! Just in the SMW engine and without Hammer bros, thus making parts of the game considerably easier. It's meant as a base for other hacks, and it does so considerably well, with lots of new animation. I await things being done with this eagerly. Rating: 3.5 and jesus am i tired or what |
