I was talking to the Nintendo rep today about SCIII, and I know why it's only on the Ps2.

Before saying what console they were going to be on (it was going to be one of the three) they went and asked each company about their next gen system and when it woudl be out. Since they didn't want to be a system that was due for a next gen around the time of the launch of SCIII, they went for the Ps2. Why be on the GC and the Xbox, when their next gen will be out soon? Its all about how much money can be made. Now, if SCIII would be on the next gen systems, then it would have been on at least two different systems. So in a way, you have to blame Namco, and Nintendo and Mircosoft for this foul ball.

I can understand Microsoft (with the rumors that their next-gen's coming at the end of the year), but as far as I know, Nintendo's not releasing Revolution in 2005 UNLESS they go with a January/February launch date... and I'd be surprised personally if Sony's last out of the gate.

And besides, Revolution's backward-compatible with the GC and I think the new Xbox will be with the old Xbox. So I can't buy that.

Mmmm, I wonder if they can make games adjusted for X86 run fast on a PowerPC console. Microsoft switched from X86 to PowerPC.

...unless they make two consoles in one somehow.

I'm with Colleen on this, it doesn't sound right to me. I severely doubt the release of SCIII will be anywhere close to Nintendo's next thing, and even if it was it wouldn't make *that* much difference.

And the PS3 last? Now that would be mighty odd.

However, on the off-chance this Nintendo rep actually has his facts straight, that could signal a later release of SCIII on the new consoles, which some zippier graphics and such. *Possibly*. Or not.

I'd like to see the paper trail on this baby. Because if anyone here knows a Namco shareholder, they have access to business reports. And if the business report gets into Ziff's hands, I can tell you what to make of this all.

And why would Nintendo know so intimately dealings that should be secret between namco, Sony and MS?

I call shennanigans.

I call Nintendo of America training it's reps 'incorrectly'. Damn you NoA.

Then again, knowing Nintendo's record of secrecy and practically being the MI6 of gaming companies, I wouldn't be surprised if they had spies. SPIES. Licenced to stomp on people's heads.
