I'll give it a shot as soon as I get around to it EDIT: which will probably be in about a few hours EDIT 2: which game is it from, what gaming system is it from, and what is the level called with the BG (edited by smwedit on 06-21-05 08:52 AM) (edited by smwedit on 06-21-05 08:53 AM) (edited by smwedit on 06-21-05 10:55 AM) |

How possible is it to rip ExGFX from Wario Land 4? Toy block Tower would make some kickass levels in Super Mario World. The hardest thing I can think of is that some of the blocks in Wario Land 4 are mostly 32x32 sprites.

Depends on the graphics format used, really. If it's 4bpp or less, it would be hella easy to convert (if not just straight port). If it's greater than 4 bits, it may present more of a difficulty to rip, but no sweat for an experienced ripper. I'll have to take a look at it later.

I did some investigating when I had some time between projects, and it looks like Wario Land 4 uses 4bpp format, which will make ripping about as easy as can be. I'll let someone else who is interested take a crack at it if they want, but I'll probably slowly port the graphics over when I have some free time.

I have plenty of free time, so if i can get the rom ill do that for him. Im takeing a break from toads quest anyhow. If i keep working on it ill just get board and not want to ever work on it agai. So i think it would be good for me to take a break and do something else. |

Does anyone have any city backgrounds? I tried using Mario is Missing backgrounds but it's to hard to transfer them into YY-CHR without making them look like JUNK. Can anyone help me?

Ok, I am in the process of making a new submission. I have added a few things. First off, the FG uses two different palettes so you could have two different atmospheres if you want. Second, instead of a slope being of the same material as the ground, it is a bone that actually attaches to another part of the ground. Nice, isn't it? I have a few things to do though, such as make the other slope and do the whole tile settings for the slope (this is just so I can show it in game). However, I am in a bit of a stump. I don't know what else to add into it. Any suggestions? |

I need to know what the ex graphics editor of choice is for people here. Esp for ripping graphics from roms of any type. I keep trying to use tile molester for riping from a GBA rom. But it keeps showing up just a little off by like 1 sprite on the graphics. It's hard as heck to rip them when they look like that. |

Depends on what you want to rip from. If it is for a SNES game, save a savestate and use BGMapper and you can see all the tiles in use. You can then put it in a .bin file and put it in SMW. For a GBA game, you might want to take a screenshot and then make 8x8 tiles and copy/paste into a graphics editor. I really don't know about GBA games since it is so much harder to rip from those, but I know that will work. |

I know that but how do I keep it form screwing up the palette? It loses most of its color being changed into 16color bitmap and when I try to reinsert the color it doesn't turn out right. |

I figured something about GBA tiles: the reason they're so fucking hard to rip is that, although they're the same size as SNES tiles, the GBA screen uses a much larger number of tiles, leading to HUGE problems if you're using m16-7k. You're better off using the tile viewer in VBA and drawing them manually. Worked for me |

Your tileset looks like the human body cpubasic, so maby add some teeth? or veins? or bones sticking out of the skin like stumps? It does look very plain right now. If not for the bone, I would have thought it was jello. Maby you could go with that and make a 2 in one tileset? Just an idea. It looks good. (edited by Keikonium on 07-11-05 08:23 PM) |

Originally posted by mikepjrThe reason they look like that (and it is by no means something restricted to Tile Molestor, every tile editor in existence will be the same way) is because graphics are not locked into nice little manageable locations in the ROM, they can be at any offset at all. This is why tile editors (Tile Molestor being one of them) give you the option to bit shift your viewing so you can get the graphics to line up all nice and pretty like. |

So sorry cpubasic. I have no clue how I messed that up and typed KATW's name instead of yours. It's fixed now. And as for my jello comment, I was thinking of using the level header that makes the FG semi-transparent. I personally think it world look really good... Another thing to add may be teeth roots. Usually they look like tenticales coming out of the gums. You could have a level inside a mouth, and moving teeth roots could be hurt blocks. That would be so cool and original. For more ideas check out SML2: 8GC on the GBA. There was an inside body world there. Again, sorry about the name mix-up. |
