That is because you don't have any ExGFX at all. You need to take off AllGFX.bin and then extract the graphics, copy a .bin file, put it into the ExGraphics folder, and then insert ExGFX. Then use the Bypass command and put the ExGFX file into a slot. Once done, edit the graphics in LM's 8x8 editor, being sure to press F9 and insert ExGFX to save them.

Ohhh, I'm starting to understand... ok, another simple question... maybe the last.

How can I extract the files from the AllGFX.bin file?

I think someday I did it but I don't remember how.

You mean have it do its each individual graphics file? If so, then in Lunar Magic, go to options, and uncheck the "use joined GFX" option. Then extract the graphics again. It will extract each file.

Is there anyone in this thread that can rip BGs from MegaMan games? (Mainly the Original, X, and Zero Series) I can submit my ExGFX file of Battle Network once I'm finished.

Well, I'm in the process of rounding up some of the ExGFX I've used in my hack, both handmade and ripped. I don't really understand the submission process though; my code, however, would probably be dra, just for convinience.

...yep.

I was wondering if anyone could GFX these list of pics as one. I'd try but I don't have the proper uhh, programs (AND the hard drive space) needed to do so. Sorry if I sound sorta greedy about this...

Here's the three pics:

First off, those pictures are way to small to be turned into anything useful for SMW except maby wall paintings in a house or something.

Second of all, how do you not have enough hard drive space??? You need like 8 MB or less for everything needed to hack this game.

So get some bigger pictures and we will be glad to help out.

What are some good themes to use for creating custom graphics? I am creating a bunch of custom graphics for my hack, but I tend to be stuck creating grounds and ripping from other games. I need some ideas for custom graphics. I saw a topic posted this week that had a list of "places". Like swamps and stuff, if you could point me in the direction of that thread, or just list places like swamps, space stations (I already made one of these), etc that would be awesome. Thanks.

You really don't need a set theme... you can draw and see what you come up with.

Example: Here is something from a hack I just started working on (no other info released about it):

I just drew stuff... and I came up with this.

So if you want themes, just look around at things until you find something useful or something that would be cool.

Or you could just draw patterns and make a house that is strange...

To make your own graphics you first need to proper utilities. You will need:

A SMW ROM (I can't provide a link sorry. It's not aloud)
YY-Chr
Lunar Magic

Now that you have those, you are ready:

1. Open up a SMW rom in Lunar Magic (LM), and also open up YY-Chr.
2. In LM go to Options>use joined GFX and uncheck it.
3. In LM click on the RED and BLUE mushrooms (just click ok to any screens that pop up)
4. Now in YY-chr, click open. And go to the folder that contains your ROM.
5. You will notice 2 new folders; Graphics, and ExGraphics.
6. Click on the graphics folder and open one of the files (any one will do).
7. Now change the format at the bottom to 4bpp SNES.
8. Graphics will show up!
9. Now erase them all.
10. Click on the pencil tool, line tool, etc etc, and draw in the screen on the right. It will show up smaller in the screen on the right. These will be your new graphics.
11. When you have them how you want them, go up to Save.
12. Now save this file in the ExGraphics folder, NOT Graphics folder.
13. Name it ExGFX80 (exactly as shown).
14. Now open up LM again, and click on the YELLOW mushroom. This will insert your graphics.

That is how you make graphics. Its really easy once you get the hang of it, and it isn't hard at all. Using them in your game is something different. I think there is a tout on how to do it, but I'm not sure. Just read the help file that comes with LM for help on how to use them. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

in the ExGFX folder, the folder is called ExGraphics, you put them inside the folder (and rename them if you need to)

In the editor? You mean Lunar Magic? If you need to see the tiles in Lunar Magic, then open up the 8x8 editor. There, you use the arrow keys to find your ExGFX.

Would anyone be willing to make this into a GFX? I need it for an upcoming hack of mine continuing from Super Mario Universe.
