Just extract the GFX before inserting the ExGFX. After you inserted the ExGFX, insert the GFX again.

I have another image that needs to be ripped and made into a BG file... It's from Sector 5 (ARC) from the Metroid Fusion game on GBA. I'm doing the FG, so if someone could rip this, that would be great. Also I have two others somewhere on page 14 of this thread that could be ripped as well... thanks.

Alright, I've got a new question:
I've made a BG work in SMW. It looks awesome.
The thing is, when I play it, it looks like a mess of garbled mess of objects and shit. What do I do to make it look better?

Well, since that won't work, what about this smwedit?

It's from Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, just like Castle Rock Fortress. Source of the pic is Act II, the boss room (Act_II_-_2-3_Ninja_Gaiden_Trilogy). Oh, just incase... I'll just quote for anyone to take upon these past requests. Thanks.

Now... I have a BG request folks... but before I give out the image... this background doesn't come from any of the Official Metroid Games, even through the graphics are somewhat simular... they came from a fan made game called ORN. Here's the link for better information.

http://www.cs.rit.edu/~tjh8300/Orn/

Now then... the BG image in the fan-game contained three layers: BG1, BG2, BG3. I just edited it with MSPaint so it appears on one BG layer once it's placed into a SMW hack. It goes along a theme of underground, with lava in the background, which is why there's a strip of orange in the image... OK I'm going on too much, here's the image.

Well... I have one more... can someone make this into a ExGFX file... I need it for one part of my castle level in my hack... The pictures in this one pic may clue you in why I need this in my hack...

Acually, I severaly doubt that Lunar Magic can't support all the colors in that last pic, though some are shared palletes...

Edit: Another from Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (Ninja Gaiden II). The Altar. Reason why? I need it for the third and final chapter of Super Mario Universe - The Gates of Chaos.

that image isn't exactly 256 in width, but I might be able to copy part of it and paste it in the remaining space, I just have to copy a part 16 pixels in width and paste it.

I have a couple of questions.

I was able to follow Cody's steps just fine, but... for some reason:

In the 8x8 tile editor window, the ExGFX are successfully extracted, so that's no problem. However, when I try to extract it on the 16x16 tile map window, it does not show up, even after I've inserted it in with F3. It just shows something completely different than I want.

Also, the grahpics are very messed up for things such as Walk-Through Dirt, Solid Left Edge, and so on, and I have no idea how to correct that.

I also saw screenshots of ExGFX for the 16x16 map tile editor window was very neat and clean, but when I extracted the ExGFX into the 16x16 map tile editor, it was a mess. Do I have to manually "clean" it up, or did I miss something?

Thanks for any info!

Change the super GFX bypass. If it is in the FG, change one of the FG sets to the ExGFX bin file that came with the zip file, and it should show up fine (usually it is FG3? )
If it is in the BG, change the BG set.

A new set I'm working on while bored at work (no, I haven't abandoned those other ones I was working on a while ago, they're just on the back burner for now). I call this new set the Semi-Futuristic Set. Check out some screens below.

The basic platform scheme set up in Vanilla SMW is so good that I can't improve on it. This benefits the level designer because you don't have to relearn any new tricks of the trade. Blue plaftorms work like ledges in SMW. The little fence dealies are mostly climbable.

Not much to see here besides the slopes I set up. Notice how they sorta curve before leveling off. Nifty. Red platforms are like cement blocks in that you can't jump through them like you can with the blue variety.
