I recently got in the mood to play this one semi-old game I used to play back in the day. It was a strategy game that centers around the lives of cavemen, you gotta get them to hunt, harvest, and all that caveman-esque stuff. It was sprite based, I believe, and had a slight cartoony feel to it. Any help in figuring out what this durn game is would be much appreciated.

Oh yeah, it may or may not have had some sort of caveman type name.

Populus

It is a game in which you control tribe members. That is the only cave man strategy game that comes to mind.

Hmm, no. Populous is more of a war strategy game, isn't it? I guess you could call the game I'm thinking of more of a tycoon game or something similar. Ya know, more of a focus on growth rather than destruction.

What system was it for?

I'm going to randomly guess Tribes for the Genesis. There was also a puzzle game featuring cavemen, along the lines of a Lost Vikings type of game, but I can't remember the name offhand.

I remember a game like that called "The Humans" for the PC. It was a side-scrolling strategy type game. Probably the Lost Vikings ish one that Emptyeye mentioned.

At least I think it was, I don't think I ever got it to work on my computer way back when.

A quick bit of research shows that there also was a SNES game like this.

It's a isometric game for PC. It may be for other systems, but not that I'm aware of. The Lost Vikings and that Humans game are more puzzles than anything else, the game I'm thinking of is along the same lines as Warcraft or similar games, but with very little focus on combat.

I'd be thinking either Settlers or PowerMonger. There weren't that many "cavemen" games for the PC.

Yeah, you wouldn't think it would be this hard to remember a freakin' game. Let me see if I can make a little list of everything I remember, for quick reference.

- Isometric view
- Cavemen, or some other prehistoric peoples
- Cartoony style
- Strategy game with heavy focus on growth rather than battle
- Maybe a caveman type name.
- PC Game

Not very helpful, I know. But if I could remember anything more than these vague details, I would probably have a better time finding it myself.

I doubt that it would be Civ-net or Civilization at all. Civilization is about... evoloping a civilization from stone age into modern age. And even if there is a concept of food, you really don't micromanage alot...

In case anyone was wondering, I'm pretty sure it was either Settlers 3 or 4. Thanks a bundle to all that helped ('specially you, Colleen, even though I sorta just passed your suggestion off, ).
