how to assemble a backround image like what to do to start ararnging

cause when i import a backround i get a bunch of garbled up graphics...

is this because i'm missing a file or is because i need to arrange them?

if i just need to arrange them then can someone help me out here?

You need to use the superGFXbypass to change the graphics to the ExGFX or the graphics you're using, change the Map16 to either a blank page or the right page already in use, and then delete the background tiles so it's nothing but blue space and arrange the new map16 tiles however you like.

I promise that one day (hopefully sometime soon after I finish work with Tile Counter), I will put together a walkthrough for doing some of the more tricky graphics work, starting from the ground up.

No. What you need to do is just substitute the right GFX file in the FG3 slot using a GFX bypass and then make sure thew palette is correct. The tiles are already arranged correctly.

Put SMAS into a tile map editor and find the graphics you want.
