I went to this site a while back & I found this really kick ass hack of SMB1. It only has 9 levels but the hack is really good. It has changed music & animated backgrounds. Here's the patch.

And here's pics of the hack...

I hope you guys enjoy this hack as much as I did. Btw, use the SMB1 ROM with the title screen.

Great hack. God-awful music, unfortunately, but I guessI can't really complain since it's such a pain to hack.

I definately got to play this thing. It looks pretty sweet.

BTW, can anyone else get past 1-2? I'm stuck at the 2nd ladder.

Yeah, you have to time it so you bounce off the shyguy and grab onto the second ladder at the same time, if I'm remembering the level correctly.

I'm amazed somebody can DO THIS to a SMB1 rom.

Japanese People: "Haw haw we laugh at your SMB1 skills!"

Just another reason why I should learn some dang Japanese.

The problem, Darkmatt, is that if you spend your time picking up Japanese skills, you neglect your hacking skills!

This is really a good SMB1 hack. It reminds me of another SMB1 hack that has animation in the backgrounds also, I forgot the name but it had weather changes in that hack.

I finished it. Yoshi grabs the key then the Princess Rescue music begins after moving to the right where another one of those Yoshi's Houses are. Nothing else happens except the game restarts at the title screen after the music plays for awhile.

Ahem. Asking for roms is not permitted here. Please read the rules. Also, its called an IPS and you use it to patch onto a rom. Get Lunar IPS off of FuSoYas site. I dont have a link to his new site so look for it. Or you can get it off of www.zophar.net.

Also, what does Yoshi look like big? Im too lazy to dl it

I'm not sure where he got the sprite for yoshi, but it looks fine. It looks a little to good to be original, but it could be. I know he drew the shyguys when you step on them. He did a good job with that.

Alot of pallete hacking, graphic hacking, sprite hacking, and expanding, that pretty much sums it up.

Unbelivable somebody called a patch a rom. I mean I've heard of people uploading roms instead of patches but that's just kooky!

Jeez. Once again the Japanese prove that they pwn our socks when it comes to ROM hacking. That's just crazy.

I'm with you on that one HyperHacker. And to think that those Japanese ROM hackers can do hacks like this in their sleep.

Yes its so bogus. You big time hackers like HH, BMF, and Fu should all meet some Jap ROM hackers and get all the info you can about ASM, Hex Editing, and everything else they stuff in there minds about Rom hacking.

I think it's got a lot to do with their time management, actually. I could probably do something like that, judging by the screenshots, but I would never finish it.

I don't think that they are better than us. It's just that their ROM hacking community is isolated from ours. Some of them are probably amazed by our hacks. I wouldn't say that this hack rocks our socks or anything, since it hacks things that have... been hacked before, nothing amazing with that. But it's godly done still.

...maybe there is a big Japanse ROM hacking community, I know this is a known place. Especially when we appear in a wikipedia article about ROM hacking but.
