It's funny how Wakka, in FFX, mentions that Tidus is just a newbie. Strange hearing it offline and let alone, a video game. I'm used to hearing it online only.

Lol, yeah that surprised me too when I first heard it. Proves that the creators probably go to forums and such too. I mean, they can't be THAT different from us, right?

Newbie: A new user of a technology, such as a computer, a certain computer program, or the Internet, is often referred to as a "newbie." The term originated sometime around 1990 and supposedly comes from the English phrase, "new boy," which refers to someone in their first year of public schooling. In online chat rooms, veteran net users like to call anybody who asks an easy question a newbie. If you ever get called a newbie, just shake it off -- everybody has to learn sometime.

newbie: /n[y]oo'bee/ (Originally from British public-school
and military slang variant of "new boy") An inexperienced user
of Usenet or other system.

This term surfaced in the newsgroup news:talk.bizarre but
is now in wide use. Criteria for being considered a newbie
vary wildly; a person can be called a newbie in one newsgroup
while remaining a respected regular in another. The label
"newbie" is sometimes applied as a serious insult to a person
who has been around Usenet for a long time but who carefully
hides all evidence of having a clue.

Usenet: /yoos'net/ or /yooz'net/ (Or "Usenet news", from
"Users' Network") A distributed bulletin board system and
the people who post and read articles thereon. Originally
implemented in 1979 - 1980 by Steve Bellovin, Jim Ellis, Tom
Truscott, and Steve Daniel at Duke University, and supported
mainly by Unix machines, it swiftly grew to become
international in scope and, before the advent of the
World-Wide Web, probably the largest decentralised
information utility in existence.

To some, that might be worse than being a newbie.

Dude if you were truely normal that would suck because then like you really would be messed up. If you saw someone normal what would you think. I would think what heck is wrong with him.

I've seen 'newbie' being used in a Tv series. I think it was on a police station, or some type of office, where they'd just hired this new dude, and then said that he was just a newbie.

I don't remember from what it was, since it wasn't from something I watch regularly. I was just zapping through the channels, and happened to be there, just for that scene.

Anyway, I've seen people use 'midbie' for people that are neither, but I think it sounds a bit odd.

Since I am not a oldbie and not a newbie, I guess I can call myself a normaler... hey! That's it! A normaler.

As of hearing newbie on shows, I heard it somewhere, but don't remember.
