I dunno if the game's going to be horrible or anything, although Sega is due to put out a really good Sonic game soon. It's going to be strange though, there's no doubt.

Oh, and NOTE: I realize character depth is not the point of action games, but if they insist on focusing so much on Shadow's OOH DARK aspect I'm going to talk about it.

It's Sonic. No one expects plot from Sonic. All you expect from Sonic is speed beyond what you get in other platforms. "Shadow is dark sonic whoamg" is as much depth as you're gonna get.

Yeah, but why all the flashy text then? I mean, Sonic does his little grinning and poses and whatnot, but that doesn't get in the way of gameplay. Wherever Shadow is involved with anything it's like EVERYBODY SHUT UP: SHADOW IS BEING DARK NOW. I mean, not that I'd want to watch the cutscenes anyway. What was my point again? Oh yeah, for NOT having any character depth Shadow's seems to be stressed an awful lot.

The flashy text is just because it's a trailer... I mean you could make something like Ico look lame by going...

I'm worried about how the gunplay will mess up the flow of the game, Sonic's all about going really fast, if I wanted to shoot people I'd go and play "Ratchet and Clank".. *shrugs*

I'm just waiting for them to re-relese Sonic CD myself *sighs*

I have a feeling they don't really know what they are doing so for now they are just showing us the concept of the shadow game with the heroes engine. I really hope so. They could make this game pretty damn cool. Sega wants to excite us by showing this. I'm pretty sure it won't look like this. Well I'll know for sure when I play it at e3.

I think if Sega wants to make this game good, they need to stop using things like Renderware and the Sonic Adventure engine. While I enjoyed the SA engine, it has a horrible system for shooting. It's kinda sad to think about, but Sonic the Hedgehog is just the type of game that moves too fast for modern audiences.

It was OK in the past to have a Sonic game where you could hit speeds that actually caused you to run out of the way of the camera, but as we get into behind-the-back 3D games, speed is just not going to work, because in 3D games it's not just like "Oh, I can see that coming so I need to jump over it", you actually need time to pay attention to what you're doing. If you're moving so fast that the camera can't keep up with you, then you can't do anything about those obstacles.

Not only that, but the track-based gameplay that SA had was really just "Hold forward and watch the pretty", for the most part. It's fun, yeah, because there are clever little parts in it that sneak up on you where you have to use the controller, but if you're going to incorporate shooting into it, you need something more sophisticated.

Maybe Sega should ask Capcom what they did with the old Legends engine...

Well, if they didn't have an idea as to what direction the game would take now they sure as HELL wouldn't have something new ready for E3.

If those graphics stick to the final, it better be a DS game.
If not, then let it be a multiplatform/GCN/whatever, so that it can be ported to the PC.
