Everyone...A new strand of chicken pox may well be apon us. Yes this is right.
Becuase in my town, and sever other towns around us, have grown to almost epidemic state of this. Many kids and adults who even had the chicken pox AND got the vacine, are still getting them. I for one...Have it currently. My two cousins who live with me got it. About 28 kids in my Cousins school have got it, and about 32 in my High School have gotten it. Now, supposedly, if it gets really bad as in, out of our state, scientists will have to create a treatment for it. It of course is like regular chicken pox, one week lasting and all, but you still get it if you have had the vacine or had them already. There are no news storys or anything yet, as it is not in that level yet. Surely if it keeps up though, we may have a nation wide problem. Not sure yet if you can keep getting this kind again and again, but if so, it will most definatly be a problem. Well im itching away here at my desk, wishing for this not to get really bad. I guess this is just a pre warning to all. Is this maybe affecting anyone elses area too?

That's certainly not good... Are there any unusual symptoms? I haven't been feeling so great lately, but it's nothing I would attribute to chicken pox.

<SPACE> so I guess there's a NEW chicken po
<SPACE> pox*
<SPACE> they'll let it run for a few months
<SPACE> then re-release "chicken pox classic"
<SPACE> damn, I'm out of soda

I guess I had chicken pox when I was really really young or something, so I've never had it since, but that's a cheap shot that this new one ignores immunities. Nerf chicken pox wtf.

EDIT: sense/since zomg

I was vaccinated in about 1993, I never actually got the disease...

I guess I'll have to get the "new" chicken pox vaccine along with meningitis and the other ones I'll need before college...

I dont think its going to get very far to tell you the truth. I guess my doctor said the people who have it are practiacally contained in there homes, and hopefully it can be stopped. Meh. Who knows. Maybe it will become a nationwide epidemec. Any way though Valcion you said someone has it near you? Did they like, have the vacine, or maybe already get the chicken pox?

That "not living near you" point does not prevent anything. A tourist also might infect someone else - like a chain reaction viruses spread out.
As for the current desease mentioned here: I hope the epidemic will be stopped soon. Viruses mutate/multiply often and gain resistances - but as long there is no full resistance to one vaccine, there is always a way by mixing the ingredients or slightly changing the formula.

I also don't think it's serious - it is mostly not good for people who are very weak. But there were already really bad epicemics and the results were good at final and they were stopped without bad results

Considering I haven't heard anything about it through the news, my guess would be that it's a contained outbreak or maybe only centralized in one climatic region.

I already had it when I was 6 but I wouldn't be too concerned. Mine never really was that bad to begin with...

At least it's not a Pandemic... and I really hope it dosen't turn into a one.

(Pandemic is a worldwide epidemic, there is a quite few diseases who have spread over the world fast before...)

I've never heard of such a thing going around. I had chicken pox before and it was no fun at all. Hopefully it doesn't come around here.

Well, by that token the common cold's been a pandemic for as long as I remember.

Eh, Canada has enough vaccine to take care of us and some third-world countries so we're fine.

Thankfully if the common cold is a pandemic, it's a very mild strain of the common cold. However wasn't SARS a very dangerous variant of the common cold virus?? (or the same family or something?)

I believe anything Influenza based is highly dangerous as far as pandemics go.... spread much more readily than the common cold.

As for Chicken Pox, I hear that it's much worse when you're an adult, so if there is a new strain of it, I certainly don't want it!

Doesn't really bother me. I won't get a shot, just simply wait and not giving it a thought on my mind.

Until this chicken pox sickness escalates and turns people into zombies then I might care, if only a teeny weeny bit.

Sounds like it's pretty well contained.. and it's only chicken pox. It could be much worse.

I had chicken pox when I was 2 or 3, I dont really remember it or just how much it sucks to have.
