| My choice is simple... Paris Hilton. OMG, I honestly can't think of one person who could possibly be any more over-rated than her. EVERYONE at my school is obsessed with her, saying she's "all-that", making her out to be the hottest woman alive, when really, she's not even close! First off, she's not sexy. At all, particularly due to her lack of a bod. She's like a walking popsicle stick! Second, she has little or no musical, acting, or artistic talent whatsoever. That's something anyone would agree with. Her voice and dialogue is like the equivalence of squashing a bunch of frogs with a bulldozer. Sometimes I wonder if she's really that stupid or if she's just plain acting dumb. Third, she's... well, let's just say, a typical dumb blond. I already elaborated on that. Fourth, she's done NOTHING for the entertainment industry altogether. Name one good thing she has done. Some celebrities sponser cancer foundations and things like that, but do you see commercials with Paris giving her money to a GOOD cause? I didn't think so! I mean, let's just face it: she's famous for being slutty and dumb. I wouldn't be surprised if she's slept with 50 other guys besides Nick Carter (sorry, I just had to say that)! I see things every day like "OMG PARIS HILTON IS S0 H00T!!" either at my school or online, and to those people who call her hottest, I must say this: I beg to differ. What is people find so hot about her? Is it her face? NO! She has an ugly nose, and droopy eyes. Is it her body? NO! She's like a damn skeleton! You can see practically every bone she has! SHE HAS NO TALENT! She's the most over-rated thing since PS2-shitty hardware, mediocre games, unreliable internet, yadayadayada. She can't even BEGIN to compare to some of the other actresses I've seen, in ANY way, shape, or form. Jessica Biel, Kristanna Loken, Catherine Zeta Jones, Naiomi Watts, Milla Jovovich, Elizabeth Hurley, Angelina Jollie, are all way hotter, they're much sexier, and, what can I say? They're all even SMARTER than Paris, which is no surprise. A lot of people are complete geniouses next to her, and now THAT'S saying something. They're all better actresses than she is, too (considering Paris isn't really an actress at all, not that she can act). |

Seriously, can you even think of anything remotely productive she's done prior to her "fame"? I really can't. At least Ashlee is getting out there, touring and crap. Best: Michelle Rodriguez. | i'd probably, if answering truthfully, say that 98% of "celebrities" are pretty much douchebags. so, although i'm not really being specific and too true to the threads intents and requests, it's because the scope of my answer is too large. I can't say it's a single action, or a single comment, it's just the collective attitudes and the culture they've created, or rather "we" have created for them. Know it or not, some of THE "finest" women (as some guys like to call them) on this planet are Hollywood stars. The more I see of people like Kristanna Loken or Jessica Biel in movies like T3 or Blade: Trinity (and/or Texas Chainsaw Massacre for that matter), the more I fall "out of line" watching movies, and pay a lot closer attention to the people IN them. It even inspired me to start a poll about it over on the old Acmlm's Board (asking who the hottest celeb is). Yes, they caught my attention THAT much. |

I'll definitely second the Morgan Freeman one. I am quite a fan of his work, and you're right, he is excellent in every role he takes on.  It would be nice to see him get more recognition.There are some celebrities that I think deserve to be recognised for their talent. Morgan Freeman is one of them. Unfortunately, the ones that I think should be recognised, are the ones that are the least recognised. The ones that rely on showing a bit of skin, or being obnoxious or whatever however.... |

| I wouldn't say she's the MOST overrated because she has some ability to compose music, play an instrument, and sing...but Alicia Keys' piano-playing skills are quite overhyped. Many people seem to be impressed with any sort of piano work because it is commonly perceived to be an extraordinarily difficult instrument, but her arrangements that I've heard are on about the same level as playing three simple guitar chords over and over again, and I never saw the Ramones getting their asses kissed as some sort of guitar gods. Vanessa Carlton is better, but she's not the OMFG BEST PINIST EVAR ROFFLES either. If people want to give these artists credit for playing their own instrument with some proficiency, that's fine and dandy, but it chafes my ass to see them held up as comparable in skill to insanely talented pianists like Tori Amos. |
