I have no quarters to use a pay phone. So I'm a poor white folk here. Besides what happens when you have no money to use a pay phone nor get a calling card? Then what do you do Colleen?

Ah well, subways dont exist where I live. And bus or train stations are very rare too.
The only place I see them is outside of a random mini-mart or something.
But I could really care less, cause I have a cell.

You get a job.
Imagine.

That's what I plan to do. I'm hoping by April I can get a cell phone. My parents get annoyed when I use the home phone, and I'm always a bit paranoid about them listening on another phone with the same line when I'm talking to a friend.

And congrats on your phone.

Too many people have cellphones. You're all spoiled!

I myself use my hand. To type. Messages. I don't use phones much.

I'm on my fifth too

Nokia NK 402 - Very basic phone. First with "Snake"
Nokia 3510 - Basic phone with GPRS and Polyphonic Ringtones
Motorola MPx200 - Smartphone, clamshell design, any .wav ringtone, Windows Mobile 2002
Nokia 6600 - Smartphone, any .mid ringtone, bluetooth, megadrive, gameboy, C64 emulators (not bundled), Symbian Series 60.
SPV C500 (current phone) - Smartphone, Very small design, bluetooth, any .wav ringtone, compatible with scummVM, Windows Mobile 2003 second edition.

I got my first phone when I was 16, but it's very common for children half that age to have them now.

My current ringtone is a SID version of the Bubble Bobble theme... SID being the C64's sound chip, so my ringtone sounds just the same as it would coming out of a C64 In my opinion, there is no better version of the theme, even on other systems with sound chips with more features

I don't have a cell phone...I might get one eventually, but I have no need for one now. I almost exclusively talk to people over the Internet on message boards and AIM, and only use the phone when I actually have to contact someone...

Sounds like the old 5190.

Still use mine daily. Just turned 8 y/o.

Unkillable.

Not made in China obviously.

Unkillable? Wow that's a determined phone to keep working. If you've already dropped it more than enough it's amazing that it still works and no doubt it'll have lots of scratches.

Randy and I got cell phones back in October. They're nifty because they give one of us a surefire way of getting in touch with the other when either of us is out, and they're also a must-have at anime conventions when you're trying to find cell phone-enabled friends. The free long distance is a bonus as well. We have Motorola v400 phones, which seem pretty nice to me. (I only ever use the address book and play Bejeweled once in a while - I've never had a need to get online when out and about - but the interface is fine and I like being able to put a cute picture of Cookie on as my wallpaper and use a custom MIDI or mp3 as a ringtone. Randy got some sort of phone management software that lets you dump a song file to the phone for that software, so I don't have to pay some bullshit ridiculous price to get a song onto the phone. I switch between The Raven, an original composition, and a MIDI of the Goonies theme song. ) I dropped mine at least once and it still works. w00t.

My cousin's old phone was unkillable...with the cover on. He could run over it with his bicycle and such things without it taking damage.

But once he talked in it without the cover...and dropped it.

I'm proud to say I'm the only person in this city over 16.0 who doesn't have a cell phone. xD

Then again, I don't need one, and probably never will, so it's no big deal for me

And you're actually proud of it? Oh well...

I got my first phone in 2000, that was a Nokia 3210. I'm on my 4th phone now. It's a Nokia 6260, with camera, polyphonic ringtones, mp3 player, a big screen and thousands of other functions I couldn't remember...

My old phone was a Panasonic. It did me fine for years, even though I never had credit. It was one of the first phones to have polyphonic ringtones (I had the Skaters' Waltz for most of its life), and at the time it was one of the the lightest, smallest phones available. Plus, it had a great hands-free speaker which I have yet to see on another mobile phone. It could only make calls and send text messages (and at that save very few of them), but that was all I needed. It lasted well, but in the last days, it didn't even ring properly, so I needed a new phone.

My new phone has all sorts of fancy things in it (I think it's a Nokia 3510i), cover lights, WAP, games, colour display, and such, but I find myself only sending the odd text message or making a call - when I have credit, of course. It's far bulkier and heavier than my other phone, but I've gotten used to it.

I have no cell phone . I have to borrow my parents' one for whenever I'm gonna need to use one, and it's just a cheap piece of crap from last decade with no graphics or games or anything .

Then again, I'm a phone-a-phobic most of the time so I guess it works out....
