Congratulations. I remember when I got my first cell phone. It was an Alcatel this-or-other model with a two row display, and you could only write UPPERCASE SMS MESSAGES. It sucked.  |

| I'm still having my first phone actually, I had it since four years. Still working as new, maybe the battery is just declining in quality... I never considering getting a new phone, maybe I even get new batteries instead. You can phone, and you can send SMS. With I only use with the MSN services... which even then I could be without. | I got mine when I was 17, and I remember that Mum was furious. I kept it for three years, but since then I've been through a few phones.... two nokia handsets, a NEC handset and now a nokia again, in less than two years.  I want to find a nice color/polyphonic Nokia handset, I don't like my current one. (no color, mono ringtone) Then I'll be happy.. not that I use my phone all that much... |

| Congratulations! Download a lot of stuff when it's free and don't answer to calls you don't know about; either a person who called the wrong number or a telemarketer trying to steal your minutes. Typically don't use the ringer but I have Inspector Gadget, The Simpsons, Super Mario World, Castlevania - Miniboss Theme, Sonic and Knuckles Theme, and Austin Powers. Currently running on a Sprint plan and can talk to other sprint users for free before curfew. I got mine for christmas from my stepfather. |

I've considered getting a cell phone, but if I do, it's going to be a really basic one. Nothing more than simple ring tones and -maybe- SMS. I'm sick of these newfangled phones that check your email, make toast and rub your feet. If I wanted that I'd get a PDA.  I wonder if it could ever be possible to use the Nintendo DS as a phone? |

I have to agree with you HyperHacker with just getting a basic cell phone than getting one with a bunch of stuff to go with it. Right now I have no idea what the best plan would be.  Gah! I need a job to get one.  |

Newb question, but what's a PDA?  I've never had my own mobile/cell phone. Might get one soon though. Probably a Nokia 3310 or something. Nothing fancy. I was sick of them at school. Everyone forking out $400 for a new design. Noticing everyone had Nokia 5110's, then when someone got the next model, they were all popular. And a year later, find out that the phone's $150. My aunty's done that. Went on a contract where she'd be paying about $1500 over 2 years, and now it's only worth $300. Talk about grabbing you and your wallet by the balls. |

| Ah, okay! Thanks. I think Nintendo are planning on making the DS like a PDA, as they're going to show the new GBA at E3 this year. They said that the DS was just for competition against the PSP and that the new GBA will have Gamecube like graphics. |

| I got my first cell for my 14th birthday, it was a crappy no-name brand with practically no minutes, but still. It was a cell phone. It was only a year plan, so around my 15th birthday I got a flip phone with a very cool plan and rollover minutes and the whole shabang. It is cool. I love it. I've got a mario rington, too.  |

| My parents get pissed off if I use the home phone, so having a cell is nice. And all of a sudden, I never see pay phones around here anymore. They are nonexistant because of the fact that nearly everyone has a cell or some way to contact a person on the go. | |||

| Then that's why God also invented calling cards. (Not the long-distance ones, but regular ones that can be used with a phone for local calls.) PLENTY of pay phones in Montreal. Walk into any subway station and you'll see a wall of them. |
