I can't believe this has happened--but I guess he is now looking for his new challenge? Sony and Nintendo are now going to have a run for their money.

And XBOX II falls in.

Not that I have an XBOX anyways...but hey...if he's helping them design new RPGs, that can't be bad.

One game doesn't make or break a console war.

I think this was more of a desperation move on Microsoft's part since they'll do anything to try get more market penetration in Japan. Still have to see the games first though.

Well, it's not like he's going to be making FF games either. This is original stuff from him.

Yahoo is minformed. He created the FF series for Nintendo, then Sony stole it from them. That is how Sony did well with their console.

As much as I am a Nintendo fan, Sony didn't 'steal' Final Fantasy. O.o'' Square moved to work for Sony and the PSX because Nintendo pissed them off for some reason.

It was the whole disc system thing. Sony was creating a disc add-on thing for SNES, and some developers switched to Sony since they were making the part of the system the games would be working with, then Sony pulled out and decided to make their own system. Thats how Nintendo lost Capcom as well.

Because Nintendo attempted to force them to sign an exlusivity contract (which really angered them). Sony didn't make them. Thus, they felt they had more freedom with Sony and shunned Nintendo. Kario...Nintendo NEVER lost Capcom. EVER.

As for this, good for Microsoft. It isn't a move of desperation. It is called good business. You know, like when Nintendo keeps on making Zelda games. One could argue that they're being unimaginative and desperate to make a buck (which really an industry is all about), in truth they're trying to continue a great game series and compete.

I don't think a single person could change the market that drastically, but after all. Sony's console is the most depandant on 3rd party games. Both Gamecube and X-box have quite some 1st party games while Sony do have some 1st, but just not that many. Besides, would a single person change the market like that?

Did Final Fantasy Crystal chronicles really affect Gamecube sales that much? I doubt that a franchise, or a big name would affect it that much.

Sale-wise, the future seems to be... odd for the next three consoles. The market could flip again, and it could be Microsoft leading. But then, I really don't want a big one company controlling most of the video game market whatever if it's Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft or EA...

It will be intresting to see if the game winds up to be good thought... big names aren't always the same as big games. Peter Molyneux anyone?

Anyways, I wonder how the video game dynamics are going to change in the next generation. I think Sony is going to get a run for its money--lately, it's dominance of those consoles have been waning. I guess we'll have to see next year how it'll all turn out.

Or the end of this year if some of the Microsoft rumors have any basis to them.

Hell, we'll probably have a good idea in just 3 months time at E3. Patience.

I love how annoying Valcion 1) posts this, 2) has no idea wtf he's talking about because it doesn't even appear in the thread. Read the thread and then tell us to stfu, k, they weren't talking about him at all.

Who knows if this will really affect anything except more RPGs on the Box? I don't think he could have a major role in final fantasy games pwning or not.

I am changing my name to Kairo. I understood what he said fine. I am kind of a fanboy, but I didn't say anyone stole that creator guy, I was talking about Square itself.

Well it's kind of funny to say that Sony "stole" square when it was Nintendo's own restrictive dealings with them that turned them away from Nintendo and into the open arms of Sony.
