fillings are used when your teeth are in disrepair which is only brought on by how you take care of your teeth. No dentist would let their patient go knowing they have issues with their teeth

Had my upper right wisdom taken out almost a year to two years ago. When it grew in, I would end up biting the inside of my cheek each time I would talk and chew.

Fast forward to today, the last three are coming in all at once and my health insurance is about a month away. One os coming in faster than the other two: the upper left. That's teh one that has been giving me pain from time to time, it hurts like hell, but I haven't taken any meds for it yet.

I think two of them have appeared on me already, for four years ago already and I think it stopped to hurt now and then for two years ago.

Yes they did appear early, and they was whole too. Nothing we're going to remove.

Add 'good' before that dentist and I'd believe you. My total to date is 1 filling and that was late '02 in the second molar on the top right (AKA 12-year-molar). It was a relatively small one though. Didn't take more than a shot of novacaine, a drill job (not pleasant but oh well), and a drive out of there.

Too bad I ended up scratching the side of one of the dentist's car on the way out because some asshat decided to cut me off in a small two-way lane...and, of course, the guy rockets off without a care in the world. Luckily, it really was nothing more than a few scratches and the care was old anyways so the dentist didn't really press anything, he was pretty much on the joke-side of 'What? You trying to get me back now?'...thought I'd about die right there.

Well, it does differ from person to person, in terms of how well your body cares for your teeth without help of anything.

That whole 'eating right' thing helps too.

Woah a little late in the thread but I can relate totally.

Last year around November I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled, and they werent anywhere near coming out yet. They werent giving me any sort of problems, but the dentist said Id have to get them out sooner or later and right after having my braces off was a perfect time.

Anyways I bled for like 2 days straight and after that I had to deal with the horribly pain for like a week, and once the pain was gone I had to deal with the horrible taste of blood clots in my mouth for a few days.

I took pain killers but it didnt they only do so much. I spent my time lying in bed playing FF-X2 which I beat in 2 days, and THUG which I didnt get too far in cause it kept making me dizzy.

Oh and after a week of having your mouth tense like that its really hard to open it wide, so the dentist pryed it open with his fingers and he said Id have to do that as much as possible to get it back to normal....I didnt of course It fixed itself nicely.

she already had one removed, HH -- read the beginning of the same post...

I only have two wisdom teeth, the other two never formed--so, I guess I'm a little lucky

Bull. The teeth can remain dorment or (in rare cases) grow in normally.

Aye, usually you'll get a total of 4 wisdom teeth that grow in. The time span between each can be great, or sometimes close together. I fall under both areas.

Well, I'm 24 now, and I still have not had Wisdom Teeth removed.

I have very very occasional mild discomfort at the back of my mouth, but I don't know if that's wisdom teeth or not.

I think my Wisdom Teeth are meant to have already tried to grow in, but if they have, I've been oblivious to it...

Well, if they stay dormant then you have nothing to worry about. If they're not going to grow then...

That's what I'm hoping to hear when I end up seeing the specialist but I'm not holding my breath.

has there ever been a case where they stay dormant for someone's entire life? Isn't that an ideal thing?

My parents have never had their wisdom teeth taken out and it was never suggested to them. Same with some of my friends.

So I guess it does happen but every individual varies. It's not something you can control, unlike cavities and the like.
