Alright seriously, is it supposed to be this bad?

I got mine out Friday (that day I just simply felt like shit, felt like I had a fever and throbbing headache) and even to this day, 3 days later I'm still feeling like crap ...

Luckily I didn't have school today, but if I'm still feeling like I am today, tommorow, I'll probably ask to stay home ...

I've seriously felt like crap, I've been taking special pain medicines that make me sleep off and on, the right side of my mouth aches (and was bleeding earlier this morning), and I've been tired this whole weekend even when I'm getting like 10 hours of sleep daily.

Ugh ...

So has anyone else got theirs pulled? Did the agony last THIS long?

so, this is what I'm expecting when I get mine pulled in the future XD

anyways, I've heard that it lasts a few days--which is why if you are in school, you are recommmended to do it during winter break, spring break, or over summer...

and, how many did you get pulled? all four?

I've been told that the pain one endures from this is tremendous, which is why I'm glad I have a big mouth, I don't have to get mine pulled.

Good luck with the pain and all tho.

Same thing here, and after reading the first post, I'm glad I don't have to, and I hopefully I'll never need to

I remember back in grade 10 or 11 or something, it was the night of our Christmas concert, and the only tuba player in the class had to get his wisdom teeth removed that day. He did, but he still came in that night to play the music. He couldn't talk very well, but still, just hang in there

Also, on the pain and the like that you're experiencing, Xeogred, wouldn't it be possible to have someone besides yourself call up or otherwise visit the place where you got them removed, and ask how long the pain's supposed to last? I assume you wouldn't want to / be able to contact them right now, so that's the reason I asked if anyone else could do it for you

the wisdom tooth on the left side of my mouth started to come one a couple months ago, didnt have that much pain, although it never did come all the way out, its like half in and half out, then the other day the other one on the right started growing, its just barely broken out now, and it hurts a little over there, im not sure why it doesnt hurt like other people say..

Trust me, nobody here can surpass what my poor teeth have been through.

Pallette Expander? - I won't even go into detail.
Specialized strings and wires for the bottom teeth?
Uber tight bands?
Then this?

Yes neotransotaku, all four.

And now after my mouth "heals" I'll have to go back to wearing both bottom and top wire retainers for 24/7 for the next few months.

Hm... it probably varies for different people, and I'd bet the other things you've had done didn't help the situation, Xeo.

I hate dentists, so I'm gonna try to avoid getting them removed. But... well, sometimes you have to do what you don't like.

The worst thing is only about a year or so ago, my Orthodontists were telling me I wouldn't have to get them pulled out.

Then a few months ago, I go to the Dentists and they tell me the complete opposite.

So I then go back to the Orthodontist, and ask them, and they act like they never even said "I wouldn't have to" they were just pretty much like "Oh yeah, you better get those out".

Sorry if I'm being over dramatic about this, and this isn't as bad as I'm making it sound, but they could get their facts right next time.

i see...well, things do change, but in a few months? i dunno--did you go see for a second opinion? orthodontist and general dentist aren't the best people to judge whether you need to have taken them out--only an oral surgeon knows lest. But it's too late now. As a result, giving this advice hopefully spare your children this same experience if you didn't get second opinion from someone who is qualfied. Also, there are specialists you are looking to make money and others who do a good service. I say this because I went to two different specialists in getting an opinion for my wisdom teeth removed and both doctors said different things...

Well they say it's best to get them pulled out as soon as you can.

If they grow "too" much and poke out more, the operation's supposedly more dangerous.

Apparently I was leaning more on the "safe scale" and they had barely grown.

All four pulled night before the junior prom (both of which I didn't go to, btw). To say the least, I wasn't happy for a good week and my cheeks made me look like I had gained 50 lbs.

Mine was bad at the start because I didn't have pain medicine ready after I was done with the surgery...so when I was home, my whole mouth was in shrill pain for a good hour after the nova wore off.

Mine are 'impacted'. Getting them out, like, sometime next month I think. Joy.

Yeah, I had all 4 of mine out last Winter Break. My mom got the crappy off-brand Vicodin, which really didn't do crap for me, so that kinda sucked. Also, after 1.5 or 2 days, I got tired of not eating real food, so I choked down a sandwich. Hardest sandwich I ever ate.

I could still eat after a few days, since I'd dealt with tight / sore teeth before with orthodontic crap for a decade, but the trick was to keep the food from the outside edges. If even a single extreme cold/hot portion touched any area that had surgery it would be about the equivalent of the guy in the game Operation! got when you touched the metal part instead of the bone.

Overall, though, it's really not that big of a deal, and after a week or two, you're not that bad off and you're probably back to normal, for the most part. The only downer is the possibilty of getting a dry socket (when I got it, they said 15%) which is a nerve-ending pain in the ass from what I heard which I think requires you to go back so they can fix it.

My brother was out for a week, so you people who think you have it bad arent alone.

As for me, I wont be getting my WT for another couple years. Hopefully I can get them out in the summer so I dont have to go to school with a very inflated mouth.
