Originally posted by Euclid Yup with the 4 torches, the doors are finally working properly. That dungeon is now 99.9% finished (play tested and all). One thing that stills buggers me through are the light torch to see floors. They work good, but somehow I can see two different black colors. Meaning that without the torchs lit, I can still see the floor. I'm probably going to have to find the proper palettes for that... By stacking effects, you mean having two effects at once in a set of 4 rooms? I haven't tested much features like that. |

Originally posted by Uchiha Itachi Only particular palettes which shows that object in HM as bright blue (or blueish or whatelse, just blue) makes it light torch to see floor. stacking effects: you have light torch to open door (which applies to whole room), then you have something like "NE move block to open door" or "NE kill enemy to open" or even "switch toggles door", it'll most likely not work. but 2 things unrelated to doors will work, say move block to get chest, then have like NE kill enemy to open... I can't say i'm really really sure on this since i haven't really tested out all combinations. |

If you play LttP on an emulator like ZSNES, which doesn't have fast enough SPC emulation, you'll notice that the metallic clinking of Link walking on stairs is actually accomplished with the Rain sample. Knowing this, it would be a bad idea to get rid of it altogether. LttP is notorious for using all of its samples more than once. |

Originally posted by Euclid I know about the blue floors (I'm using the proper palettes.. But as for the floors without beeing lighted with the torchs, I can still clearly see the difference with the holes around. See a supersized pic of what I'm talking about. I'd like to have both black colors the same, but I can't find the right palettes to change. Originally posted by Dart Zaidyer I've restored all the original sounds. But still I'll have to find a way somehow to block these sounds in the beginning sequence. It can be done, somewhat the data just needs to be found and deciphered. I just don't know why Seph3 didn't bother to include it with HM (since you can toggle sounds for the rest of the events. |

Ah, a palette swap... very clever. Well, If it didn't matter to you, you could just change all of the black entries for that level palette. I don't know why, but for some reason there's a difference between black outlines and transparent black in LttP. Presumably, it's so you can see the black outlines if you were happening to edit the graphics, (Which most editors will let you change to a more suitable color anyway), or so you can see the shadows of the bricks on the wall as they drop into the darkness. |

oh those floors, yeah it's a palette swap, thus the reason you can see it when you cast that ether spell. still it's pretty hard to see... i couldn't see it until i highlighted the big picture... |

I'm not sure about that homepage thing yet. For the story, it's beeing writed by someone else then me for the time beeing. I believe he's better then me at writing things (English beeing my second language). As for screens. I'll show a few more: New title screen palettes. Some overworld water place. A new dungeon that's beeing worked on. More at a later time... |

The "life" display font looks kind of stretched out and weird, and the new heart graphics make them look spikey. Why change it in the first place? That's a pretty sweet title screen, though. I didn't think it was possible to update the Master Sword within the confines of the original image. Makes me wonder why Nintendo didn't do it when they re-released the game. |

Originally posted by Dart ZaidyerI changed them a long time ago.. thanks for reminding me to change them back tho. I have a long list of things to "put back in". Like graphics that I got rid in my first experimentations with HM. Yes, the game is built on the same rom as my Gates of Darkness "cancelled" hack. So there's a few things that'll need to be redone. As for the Master Sword, I guess they leaved it like that to keep the original's game feeling. |

Or maybe it's because the GBA version is a really quick and sloppy hack in order to make the game work, with some altered bits that actually feel tacked on without much thought. At least the translation is better, though. Which reminds me, what special hacks are in use here, if any? You know, stuff you can't normally do by changing graphics or editing with HM? |

Originally posted by Dart ZaidyerI'm not too sure what you meant by "special hacks". Well one of the things that would require some asm work and that I'd like to change would be the layout style. (Re-organize it in other words). Something that would look like this: Most of it can be done with some asm knowledge, except probably the horizontal magic bar which I'm doubtful. But still that's an exemple of something that I'd like to change (Could probably make the hack more original too.) Also, I'd like to find a way to completely get rid of the rain without affecting the other sounds samples around (Turning the beginning sounds in other words.) The problem with that is that HM doesn't support that function. |

that screen is do-able, but it'll take a lot of work to do the money and arrow/bomb count since the ram used to DMA to vram goes only 1/4 way of the screen and also the message boxes will flicker too since they are drawn on the same BG. If i wasn't this busy with RL i could lend you a hand, unless you're willing to wait until july which by then i'll be pretty free... |

You know what? If you're going to try doing that, perhaps you should consider removing the bomb/arrow counts and having them displayed next to the weapon when selected. Or, if that's not even possible, you could just leave them up there at the top, but move them closer to the weapon display. There's plenty of space up there. For the magic meter, Ancient Stone Tablets does that, so I wouldn't put it out of the way completely. I think the real challenge would be getting it to double in size with the 1/2 magic upgrade. |

Well, this hack is coming along very nicely. Cant wait for it to be completed. I would hate to see another Zelda 3 hack suddenly stop and never be released. | |||

Originally posted by Dart Zaidyer Alttp's magic meter is not "doubled" when you get that 1/2 magic, what actually happens is the magic you need to use per say a fire rod shot costs less, so your magic meter stays the same size (0-0x80) Originally posted by Kario Mind giving a few examples of this? a lot of hacks can be worked on without you even knowing it.... |
