I prefer typing; *however*, that isn't a writing instrument.

I always use pen in school for tests/notes. I just can't stand pencils and avoid them except for when they're mandatory (in other words, for computer sheets).

I type everything nowadays it seems, I laugh at people who write rough drafts for reports on paper. Typing is greatly superior.

I type everything. I am disturbed at the lack of a Mechanical Pencil option, however.

I type for most of the 'writing' I do, although as of late, I haven't really typed anything work-related at home. When I'm at volunteering, I type alot there, and will definitely be in the coming months (due to putting the P2P Receipts from their various programs (Big Bike and such) into Prism). The only other typing I do there is to make up various flyers, posters and similar, and a majority of those I do in Excel. Yes, that's right I find it easier to make small adjustments to text placement and such with that

In short, I type for pretty much everything

Mechanical pencils are great b/c nowadays they feature extra leads, and the erasure life about matches up with the lead life.

5mm breaks way too often, 7mm is the shit.

The only bother I have is getting graphite on the side of my hand from extensive writing. For the longest time I used pens but after screwing too many things up on math assignments, I switched back in the past year to pencils.

Normal pencils suck unless you're in a K-12 environment where pencil sharpeners are widely accessible. (K-12 = first year of elementary school - last year in high school. I only say b/c many of our posters are nonAmerican.)

If it WERE possible to type everything I would, but doing some stuff just requires pencils. My math work is a pain to type unless you know LaTeX like the back of your hand, and so is doing Arabic homework (which I know how to type, it's just not worth it.)

Thank you, that is all.

Though I don't use one for writing, I like using a conventional pencil for drawing. Other than that, I'll use a pen, or I'll type everything.

Except when I'm in math class, then I break out the pencils again. Way too many mistakes to keep a pen with.

I use a blue Papermate pen, unless its something I need to be able to erase (homework, tests), then I use a mechanical pencil.

What's the best writing instrument? Why, the pen is, of course.

I usually type everything, but I'd use a black ball point pen otherwise. I also have a quill pen, but I rarely use it. It comes out finer than the ballpoint, so I like that, but mixing the ink and waiting for it to dry isn't too exciting.

I prefer a traditional pencil for drawing, and when I have to write (that is, can't type something) I prefer to use a pen. Even in math classes, I used a pen, except when I had that one teacher that took points off our grade if we used pens...

I prefer wood pencils over plastic. The plastic one's tend to be really dull and you cannot erase pen in less than 2 seconds. Unless I'm filling out a form or something important, I avoid pens.
Other than that, I'll use anything... but plastic pencils.

I absolutely must have this brand of pen available at any time.
This thread reminds me that I'm down to my last one and I need to buy some more.

If I must use a pencil, 7mm mechanical is the way to go.

All depends on what I'm doing. I have a quill pen with some india ink on my desk when I'm doing formal documents. I have about 4 types of pencils and 10 pens. For the most part, I just type though .

Pilot is a pretty good brand, I'd have to agree.

I usually have Bic pens in my pencil case though; they're dirt cheap since you can buy them individually at school.
