Well, I don't know about the US, but Nightwish is quite famous over here in Europe. They had that one song, Nemo, that topped the charts and all. I haven't heard much else, but I found that one to be quite bland. |

Originally posted by The SomerZ I find Symphony Metal quite poor (granted, the only band I've heard is Nightwish, I'm sure I could find some I liked had I heard more), but my friend, who is into that stuff, says that this Dutch band, Within Temptation, is really good.
What have you heard from them?
I wouldn't doupt that statement, since I've only heard some of their newer albums "V" and "The Odyssey", so maybe their older stuff isn't so great, or something.
Within Temptation, I'll have to look into that. |

Yes, the "v" in there threw me off I guess. |

The best Power Metal band ever. Them and Blind Guardian.
I would also suggest that you check out Kamelot or Luca Turreli
Liquid Pi - Their best album is Sirius B
Demons & Wizards is what you need.
I don't want to stir controversary here, but honestly Ziff, I'm not much of a fan for Blind Guardian.
Then again Progressive's more my style over Symphonic and "Power?" metal.
I still need to check out Dragonforce, I've heard they're an awesome Speed Metal band.
But, as far as I know:
Edguy = The entitiy of godly. |

Can't say I've paid a lot of attention to the lyrics so far. (I'm one of those who has to listen to a song about 50 times to know what they're saying )
But from their style, I'm sure it's something like "Take the sword and standing atop the highest mountains" etc.
Unlike sad and pathetic music [nu metal], lyrics like these seem rewarding and such.
Symphony X's "The Odyssey", gotta love that one. |

Yeah, that's what a lot say, they've got those "cheesy boy bandish moments".
Best though? Hmm, if there's anything better than Symphony X's V album I must hear! |

I'm totally digging.
This band is freaking nice. Heavy symphonic metal, my favorite style next to progressive. They're pretty similar to Symphony X, but seem slightly heavier.
Metal fans, definitely check them out. |
