I finally realized what you had to do to get that secret exit. Thanks for telling me also though

I've removed the screenshot, due to what the reply below this said. If you still can't find it, Luigi-San, PM me and I'll tell you where it is

Luigi's going down a very well concealed pipe If you can't see him, he's in the space with the arrow sign.

Does anyone know where the secret exit in 5-3 is?

I think I've found all the levels that've been changed in this hack now; the level I'm at right now I recognize as one from Vanilla Dome in the original SMW There's only been one other really noticeable thing, in this screenshot:

The background, obviously I forget what level that was in, but I'll take a look and when I find out, I'll edit this post.

Once again, nice work on this demo Do you have any idea of when we'll be able to play the full game?

Edit: I think I found that level. It's 4-7, and it's got the same boss pictured in the screenshot, but when I go to fight it again, the background looks fine Maybe it was something with ZSNES. So, nevermind that screenshot There's one other place I found where an inside corner tile was missing, and I'll find that, place, take a screenshot, and post it here

If the ExGFX workshop weren't there, these same people would just be posting more threads asking for people to rip the graphics for them, I'd bet. Most that are willing to learn put effort into it. Those who aren't willing to learn or simply don't care about the graphics as much use something already-made, be it ripped from other games themselves or from the ExGFX workshop or from other sources. Some, like myself, simply don't have any talent in that area - and no amount of learning how to make/use ExGFX would fix that. If it looks bad, why put it in, even if you do know how?

Anyway, about the hack.

I don't know how I did it, but somehow I died like... 10 times in the first level. I've always sucked at SMW in an emulator, and this proves it. Nice design for the level, though (what I saw of it). The only thing that's a little odd, which I mentioned before, is the mix of Yoshi's Island graphics with SMAS graphics. They're two different graphics styles that just look strange together.

Why not just start over, with NO examples (maybe one or 2). Nothing more. Make it a REAL ExGFX Workshop. Would it be hard? Nope. But hey, everyone would hate Coby if he done that, so he won't.

You're right, but if people won't learn how to use them and only downloads them to insert ExGFX in their hacks, why not close the Workshop for those people, so they haven't access to it, and make them think how ExGFX work.

The purpose of a workshop is to TEACH people how to do something.
What the ExGFX workshop does is the opposite: make people too lazy to learn.

Why'd you guys have to discuss about the ExGFX Workshop or Knuck calles it SMW GFX Database, which is the same.
The ExGFX Workshop is made for people who hasn't any knowledge about ExGFX IMO.
Anyway, let's stay on the topic!
@ Anikit: The screenshots looks very nice, I will definetly download this hack.
BTW: When will you be finshed with LA2.

Oh yeah, one i FINALLY can agree with something that Atma X said!
We don't have an ExGFX Workshop, we have a SMW GFX Database.

I think that if you use the ExGfx workshop to learn, you have the potential to learn even more and become a really good hacker (game designer). If you use the ExGfx workshop to rip gfx, then you've already given up on learning anything else.

The first major thing that I learned was making ExGfx and understanding how to insert it into the game anyway that I like, and I learned it all on my own, because I never gave up and I was interested in it (if you only learn how to rip, then your skills are very limited, and you'll only be able to insert something that came from another game that uses 8x8 Tiles,... and you'll always be dependant on using an Editor to insert it into the game for you). Since then, I've learned a lot more, only because I'm interested in learning. A lot of people want to learn how to do some of the more advanced things, but they are not interested in "learning" how to do any of it, they are only interested in using those advanced skills to make their hacks. If you are a person who is not interested in learning, then you will never know how to do these things because when you attempt to start learning, you'll get bored before you ever accomplish learning anything,... and therefore, you will be one of the ones to fall short, and be lost in confusion.

The problem with the ExGfx Workshop is that it doesn't really teach you how to make and insert your own graphics, but instead it focuses on using rips from other games for your hack, and only learning how insert rips. Another problem with the ExGfx Workshop is that supplies the hacker (or Game editor to be more realsitic) with way too many examples, and people tend to get the idea that it is a database with gfx that they can use. There should only be a few examples, and they should be sets of Gfx that are somewhat undesireable/unpopular, so that people don't have any desire to use them in the hacks.

We need to completely redo the ExGfx Workshop. It's methods are actully kind of damaging to the person that wants to learn, because it gives them the wrong concept/idea of how the gfx should be used.

In a week or two, I'm going to start making my own Graphics learning center. The old one isn't working, and it's never going to (if my classes in College were anything like that, I wouldn't learn shit,... except how to copy other's work and ideas).
If somebody wants to get technical about this by saying that "somebody" has learned from it, then I'll have to completely agree with you, because "somebody" has, but that's not enough to make up for all the people that haven't learned from it, now is it?

1: I did word this poorly. If you don't like how KT15X did his rips, yet you still want those GFX... You could just modify the palette or rip it yourself.

2: I didn't understand this.

Knuck claims that "if you use the workshop, you're not a real hacker"

"If you rip off of someone else's hack, you're not a real hacker." is what he should have said.

And, as long as your status bar has black outlined text and doesn't use colors that are TOO similar to the BG... the status bar is okay. Hell, sometimes that's the only color I've changed!

THIS ISN'T ABOUT THE ExGFX WORKSHOP! IT IS ABOUT ANIKITI'S HACK.

Damn, if you're going to fight about something make a new thread about it. But, I suppose I'll comment. Do you have the same feelings towards people that don't have any new graphics in their hacks? There's no difference - if they have no new graphics, they're using Nintendo's. If they use the graphics from the workshop, it's no different, they're just using someone else's.

I'll download it. Maybe I have an SMW rom on my computer...

Okay skateboarder... You don't really know what you're talking about. I don't say that often because of the whole it's technically incorrect thing but what does that have to do with anything. I mean, I think knuck is overreacting with the whole "killed SMW hacking" thing but WTF does that what you just said have to do with anything. Are you trying to confuse us to death?

Actually, I do know what you're saying. I just don't care. :O If people don't want to learn themselves, let them! There's no harm to it, it doesn't bother you, if you don't like the hacks, don't play them.
You don't get it do you? The workshop makes people
1- NOT want to learn
2- NOT even know that there is a way to learn

You people from workshop managed to kill the smw hacking. There are only a few real hackers left, and with time, if the wrkshop don't die (undoubtful as we can see that it already is), there won't be hackers anymore.

ohwell~

1: Some people (like me) may be frustrated with how KT15X recolored for the SMW palette, so it may not be TOO bad.
2: I don't understand this.

And lastly: If a hack has good level design, you're a good hacker. If a hack has good graphics, you're a decent hacker. If it has both... you know

Another thing I noticed in the game:

Missing the upper-right inside corner tiles I'm not sure whether you were aware of that or not. That's in the second area of the level that looks like the pyramid level in the desert world of Mario 3, otherwise known as level 4-5 in your game

Another thing that's been bothering me since I've seen it in the demo of this game that came with MarioXWorld:

How would one go about getting up there? I've tried everything I could think of including using cheats , and I still haven't had any luck.

Edit: Forgot to say that this hack has been fun to play so far, if a bit on the frustrating side at times Nice work on this demo though

My personal opinion on the status bar palette is that as long as you can see it easily, then you shouldn't complain about it. Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinions In the case of those 4 screenshots the 3rd and 4th look fine to me. Aside from that, there's one other thing I noticed while playing the game so far, in this screenshot:

I doubt the hole in the grate was supposed to be there
