I actually took a screenshot of your layout and moved the tag around to see where it would look best. I think it looks real sharp just a bit under the "j" logo. |

Originally posted by Rad King Liz But seriously, though, it looks cool enough, and I agree that it looked a bit out of place the first time I saw it, but it seems to fit in more now. Maybe it's because it wasn't in there from the beginning, and then just suddenly got plopped into the layout?
I've been thinking of a subtle gradient at the top except for the tag to show that it's "on top of" the entire layout. I don't quite know what to do though. |

I'd have to agree, it looks really cool but doesn't fit in. Partially because of the colours, but a big part is being at the very top. It'd probably look better moved down a few pixels. |

I have no idea why everyone thinks it looks out of place. The bottommost shades of the tag almost matches the box "Originally posted by" is in on blockquotes.
Zem: The 3D is very subtle. You can just make out another badge behind it sticking out. Real tags are "U-shaped" in the way that there's two badges on a small piece of textile and then folded together and sewn on. I tried to make the 'other side' stick out more to make it more obvious but it didn't look good. I'll see about remaking it later on. I'm gonna have to do that for the $NAME_OF_NORTHERN_HEMISPHERE_WINTER_FESTIVITY version anyway. |

Yeah, it does look out of place. What's the deal, jesper? Why? Why? It doesn't look very 3D either. =( |

Hey, I really like that logo. Its smooth.
Though I have to say, it looks really out of place in that layout. But I guess you can't really put it anywhere else. |

Jesus god, it could be worse. The real logo is damn near dark blue. It got lighter when I applied a smaller textile texture to it (for the real tag feel). |

It's really a "background" of the whole post body (the blue part). The stylesheet changes do two things: include the background and do some css trickery to move the now linked i am a wootest text to the place where the tag is and make the text invisible.
I tried putting the tag to the very right, didn't look good. To the very left, too close to the "j" which I don't want to lose. So it's sort of lining up with the text's right margin now which is at a comfortable distance from the "j". Putting the two too close would make the otherwise clean layout "heavy".
Oh, and if someone using IE looks at it, they should see an inspirational message . (That's done with CSS too, by the way. Using a CSS rule that shouldn't match the post body (but does in IE and only in IE) it uses a different background. |

If you refresh my layout stylesheet you'll see a pretty nifty 'tag' (compare to the textile tags on some shoes) with the new wootest logo. I think I made a pretty good effort making it sort of 3d-ish with some simple 3d distortion filters, drop shadowing and layers. How do you like it? |
