I have that package here, but I can't promise that it'll be reliably available. I'd appreciate it if someone would mirror it.

I want you to open once again the package of the custom-made block with "Sprite shoot to-you", "instant BG scroll", etc. which are not contained to this v2.0 package.
Because, although it downloaded at once when opening to the public by old Acmlm's board, it is for having lost in order to forget to take backup... |

Hey, Jonwil's still alive!
So, if I wanted to hack it to allow a bigger range, like say E00-FFF, how hard would it be? I have quite a few in there already, and I'm working on (well, when I get back in September) at least one block that'll span 2 1/2 pages alone. |

if you redistribute this, you must include full source code (as required by the GNU General Public Licence)

Yeah! it works much better than the normal Blocktool, because I had over 40 custom block in my hack and now I haven't so much slowdowns. Thank you BMF(Neko) for doing that. |

I think my hack had somewhere between 20-30 custom blocks when I first figured out this workaround, and it had noticeable slowdown. It really depends on the current level mode and how many/what kinds of sprites are on the screen, though (I had Mario, Yoshi, and maybe 3 or 4 Goombas on-screen in a Layer 2 level, and it slowed down pretty bad). I realize most people won't need this...I'm just providing it for people like me and Sendy who *do* have a lot of blocks, as I said in my initial post... |

This should be useful for some hackers...*coughsendycough* But you'd have to insert many, many for it to be effective. |

Exactly my point. You can only have 256 custom blocks and that assumes none are turn in to ____ or duplicates with different tiles. Really, I can't see how something like this would help most people, as all the hacks I've seen have no custom blocks, a few, or waaaaay more than this would cover I'm not saying it couldn't be put to good use, it's a great idea, just that I won't be using anytime soon. |

Yeah...I think it'd freeze if you had that many |

By which you mean, almost as much as would cause the slowdown this is supposed to fix? :p |

So what if it does? You would have to have tons of custom blocks to have the last page not be enough room... |

Probably because it only works on the last page. |

Hooray! I haven't encountered any slowdown myself, but still neat... I was just going to download block inserter, so why not download this one to get an extra bonus? |

Very nice. I'll use it when I get more in...right now I only have 5 custom blocks in. |

I like it. It's going to be nice to use if I decide to use a lot of custom blocks in my hack (so far, I've only found 30 to use). |

Details are in readme2.txt. Basically, to use this, you just need to move all your custom blocks to the last Map16 page (tiles 0xF00-0xFFF). I really only recommend you use this if you have a lot of custom blocks in your hack, and there's noticeable, frequent slowdown.
NOTE: the ZIP contains the entire Block Inserter 2.0 package, BIN files and all. You can update your existing Block Inserter by extracting only blktool.exe (but PLEASE don't redistribute the modified blktool.exe without the modified blkpick.pas, and preferably readme2.txt, so people know it's a "special" build).
Please let me know if there are any problems with this hack. |
