hahaha. "Take a freakin' chill pill" is so constructive. But hey, that's probably what I would've set if Weasel hadn't said it first.

Nicely said, Majin. I totally agree Omega's evidently got something against you now Constructive criticism is for your help, not to taunt you, Omega. He's trying to help. Take a freakin' chill pill.

the graphics have absolutly nothing to do with if an arealooks the same or not an how was I being "annoying"? I tink I was being pretty damn nice. I could have been all "omg u suck its da asaem" but i wasnt. I simply pointed out that I could recognize the original areas, and that most people usualy tryto look for significantly changed maps in their hacks. If you can't take constructive critisizm, then maybe you shouldn't be releasing a hack. ALL hacks get constructive critisizm, not just yours. You just gotta deal with it

Yes, I always think of "completely new adventure" as new overworld and dungeon maps (and possibly new graphics). Hacks where just the text is changed to alter the story is not a completely new adventure. Hacks where the sprites are changed to look like other characters isn't a completely new adventure.

Not true. You can edit all of that stuff easily. When you are editing the exits, you need to put the door locations where the house is. There should be a tutorial about this at the tekhacks message board.

nope it seems to be data, but it seems to be like an annoying 3 byte value which is hard to find.

And also the offsets Seph3 gave me didn't help

And i think what some people is after are completely new overworld areas i guess

something like this (i guess):

heh, just throwing screenshots i done long time ago around (you'll notice it with the time )

^^^ u guys see why I find him annoying?

Why must u try and make my hack look bad every chance u get?
Btw, what did u expect? The areas are gonna be recognizable if the graphics arent changed.

For the rest of u, I assure u, the game is different from the origional.

Edit: Weasle, im not talking about the exits themselves, I can get those to work, but some houses dont use exits, so u got to edit where the door appears from the more tab in the dungeon editor, but HM doesnt let u change the current values, so, theres not much I can do at the moment.

I can identify each of those screenshots with the original area in the game....probably because I don't notice much of a difference how much did you actually edit these maps? Just curious...it might not be too good of a thing if a player can recoginize the orriginal maps...especialy if it looks exactly the same

Lol, i like that "Zelda 3: Link goes to the past"

I may use it, i got to think about it. I may just release it as is, and then get some feedback and hold a poll for the name.

As for the "I didnt make a map" comment, i didnt create a map for the overworld. As in if u press X, u see the map from the origional game.

Or you could go for that old trick:

Zelda 3.5 - Whatever Whatever

or play up the existing pun in Zelda III's title, like:

Zelda - Link goes to the past

Yes, crappy and corny, but I thought I'd post them if for no other reason than to make you laugh.

Screenshots look solid so far. As for naming, The Evil Peer suggested to me once that I use part of my name and part of the game (or editor in my place) for the name.

Something like :
Zelda 3 - Omega

Just a thought. Perhaps the perfect name will come to you out of the blue.

Sorry, I'm pretty new to ROM hacking. What do you mean "I never created a map"? "map" means about 10 different things to me...

I did change some GFX. U will see them when u play. I didnt change much, but what I did change looks really good. I tried some major editing, but it just looked bad, so I changed it back.

The rom has been extensivly tested by me and a dedicated tester that voluteered, and there is a somewhat new story with new text for some characters.

There will be updates as time goes on, because

1) I never created a map.
2) Hyrule Magic doesnt allow you to change some of the exit doors which causes small glitches in the town because when u leave, u will just walk through the door, and find the open door image somewhere else. I tried to fix this, and I got in contact with Gamemaker (who is going to get in contact with Sepiroth3) to solve this.

Basically, any errors in the game could not be fixed at the moment, but when they can be, I will release a version that is completely bugless.

Did you change any graphics at all?

Personally, I like it when most of the graphics remain the same in ROM hacks - otherwise it usually ends up looking ugly or distracting. Just change the levels and it's a whole new game to me. Much better than changing the graphics and leaving the levels the same.

Another question: it sounds like you are still working out "2 problems" but plan to release tomorrow morning? Does this mean you haven't done any bug testing OR polishing? Like Chickenlump said, "The best hacks are those that you really put your heart and soul into, take your time with, and mold it like a work of art. If your going to do something, do it right, and do it for yourself."

And, if you haven't bug tested or polished at all, it can't really fit that very accurate description of "the best hacks."

Unless, of course, you're wanting us to be the bug-testers, and to help you with polishing it, which is fine by me. Or, of course, unless you've been testing and polishing extensively all along.

But hey, still VERY excited to play it. You've obviously put lots of hard work into this thing.

Hurray! I look forward to seeing the hack tomorrow morning. As far as what to name it... you're the one who knows what the hack is about and what's in it, so you'll need to decide that. But it probably doesn't matter - this isn't a situation where the name is going to make or break the success of your creation. You're not trying to market it to 10 million people through print ads.

"I bother you by asking the official name of your hack? Or would you rather wait untill it's release?"

Thats actually one of the things that I need to do. I would have probably forgotten to make one if u hadnt said anything.

I need help with the name, I have a couple of ideas, but i would definitly like some input on this.

Also, an update, because of the eastern time zone, I have decided to add a couple of things, and release it tomorrow morning.

Thx.

I'd be really really interested in seeing some screenshots of this. Zelda3's a great game. I was hacking it at one point, but using HM became ultimately tedious

It's good to hear that you really put alot into it. The best hacks are those that you really put your heart and soul into, take your time with, and mold it like a work of art. If your going to do something, do it right, and do it for yourself.
Even if nobody hails it as the greatest hack ever, you get the distinguished honor of it being one of the only complete Zelda 3 hacks available. Might I bother you by asking the official name of your hack? Or would you rather wait untill it's release?
