RANDOM FUN FACT: The line "Beam me up Scotty" was actually never used (Verbatim) on the original series. Source here, but you'll have to scroll down a bit.
But yeah, it sucks that he died. At least I can take solace in the fact that Ricardo Montalban is still alive, amongst others. |

well, the thing is, he was a lot more travelled before star trek--he appeared in over 2,000 radio and theatre performances or something. After star trek--well, that that...

Shame, one very good example of the variety of the actors that populate the various incarnations of Star Trek. He was a much loved actor, and played one of the most loved characters. It's a shame when the first of a group of an actors dies, you are suddenly painfully aware that times are moving on.

Actually, DeForest Kelly (Dr. McCoy) died a few years ago. |

Just saw this on the news, scotty from the original star trek has died...he had alzheimers disease, and apparently he died this morning.. really too bad, he was one of the best star trek characters.
edit: link: http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/07/20/obit.doohan.ap/index.html
and the cause of death was pneumonia with alzheimers. |
