Since you said you don't know much coding, and you are broke, try learning to use DarkBasic. It's a simple to learn language (It's called DarkBasic, come on) that exports 3D using DirectX. It puts a gay 'free trial' on your programs that you compile, but I'm sure if you have no soul you could find a crack for the software...

But there's another idea, get the DirectX SDK.

None that I've seen, but I have seen mods that moved the camera away from the first person perspective, and the most recent Unreal Tournaments already have most of what you'd need for a platformer -- there's jumps and wall jumps and dashing jumps and such, support for moving platforms, and bottomless pits already.

"But you can mod Unreal a ton without it, for the cost of getting a copy of one of the Unreal games."

Thats what I meant before

The unreal engine is extremely expensive, yes. But you can mod Unreal a ton without it, for the cost of getting a copy of one of the Unreal games. If you don't want to do the engine work yourself, that's prettymuch your best bet.

If you're an actual programmer, I'd recomend SDL. If you're not, I'd recomend becomming one, because as a general rule, all game creation tools suck, and those that don't are still outperformed by all but the most mediocre programmers.

It's not very easy to find a free 3D Game engine, but if you want you can check this page: http://www.ambrosine.com/resource.html

It gives a list of different engines which can be used to make games. I haven't checked most of them, but I did notice that alot of them can use 3D. I'm sure if you try a few of them you will be able to find one which is good for you.

Well UnReal is probably the best one but you only get that for companies... um...

One called Genesis 3D. Not sure if it works or not as I just did a google search.

Oh wait... if you have a copy of any of the UnReal games I think you get that tool 'UnrealEd' that uses the UnReal game engine i think.
