Some of you may have noticed that the post quality and content has plummeted lately - mainly intelligence, but also common sense and laziness, where users don't read everything and randomly reply. Of course, if you were one of the 9 banned, you may not have noticed this because you were guilty of it yourself. I expressed my feelings about this in the staff forum and members of staff agreed with me that the intelligence shown on this forum has hit all-time lows. People post for the hell of it, or just to put their two cents in, when many others couldn't care less, or even find it insulting that they post something intelligent and replies to it show no thought. We banned the 9 "worst" members, that is, members who showed one or more of the following qualities: - Post content doesn't contain any (independent) thought - Posts seem short and empty like "Yes, I agree" instead of expressions as to why - User spammed, or seemed to post only to raise their post counts while not contributing anything useful to the board - User showed blatant ignorance and/or disregard to rules in the FAQ - User did not exercise common sense - User clearly did not read thread development, merely either just the first few posts, just the first post, or in worst-case scenarios, only read the thread topic - User's reply/replies were very far off-topic and didn't make any sense - User showed extremely poor understanding of the English language to the point where posts were incomprehendable Now, there are other users who didn't get banned and who are borderline on some of these issues, but we're hoping that they "wise up" and/or take these bans as a notice that spam, ignorance, or stupidity won't be tolerated. There have been many 9 year-olds on the board who have shown more intelligence and maturity than 20 year-olds. If you read through posts by the banned users, and look at even just the last, say, 20 posts, and don't find a problem with their content, you may need to re-evaluate your posting content yourself. We're not here to be mean and ban people we don't like or who we think are stupid, we're here to maintain order and ban people who contribute very little to nothing on this board. Intelligent discussion is perfectly fine, but chats between 2-4 users about something that nobody else understands is not! The bottom line is that while these members may take offense to being called "Stupid" due to their post content, many, many more members are offended by the content in these posts. If someone goes through the effort to make an intelligent thought, they have the right to be insulted by replies that show no thoughts, and these replies can't continue to be tolerated. < I don't want people to be paranoid and afraid that they're going to be banned for misspelling a word here and there, or having grammatical errors. We're not English Nazis. However, for example, if you're going to insult someone else's intelligence (maybe an argument they posted, for example), try to at least say why, sound intelligent about it, and be original! It's come to our attention that a lot of users are using their bios in their user profiles to add extra rows of information to the profile. Some examples of this *were* Kitten Yiffer and Legion's bios. In any event, the problem with adding rows to the profile is that it ends up breaking the memberlist - and we also know that some people just have trouble coding tables.  So with that in mind, please refrain from using that trick, and only use tables in your bio if they're absolutely necessary and are coded properly. Thank you. |

The board code has been updated to no longer accept arguements through HTTP GET. Thus, linking to pages with arguements no longer works. Minipics that log people out are useless; they do nothing. With that in mind, I still plan on banning anyone who even attempts to abuse imagelinks, scripts, or iframes in their profiles/posts. No warnings, no strikes. Permaban on strike one, IPban on strike two. |
